14:15 Homme D’Un Soir

HOMME D’UN SOIR has been found an excellent opportunity to resume winning ways in this novice hurdle. He has been running well recently, including when second to an improving sort at Hexham last month, and a repeat of that form should be good enough to go one place better now taking on lesser rivals.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

14:50 Juge Et Parti

JUGE ET PARTI won by 20 lengths to open his account over fences at Bangor last time, looking a thorough stayer as he gradually drew clear in the straight. Admittedly, that race probably didn’t take much winning, but he is only 5 lb higher in the weights here and remains relatively lightly raced as a chaser. A change of yards (moved from Archie Watson to James Ewart) could also unlock further improvement, so he looks to have plenty in his favour in his follow-up bid.

15:25 Speredek

SPEREDEK is on a losing run stretching back to January 2018, but he has been given a chance by the handicapper and ran better than for a while when third at Uttoxeter last time. He was a smart performer in his prime and should still be up to winning a race of this nature when everything falls right. He is fancied to confirm the promise of last time to finally get his head back in front.

16:00 Ming Dynasty

MING DYNASTY produced his best effort since joining Brian Ellison to get off the mark as a chaser at Hexham three weeks ago, forging clear in the straight to land the spoils by nine and a half lengths. He now makes his handicap debut over fences and will command plenty of respect from an opening BHA mark of 125. After all, he sets the standard on Timeform’s weight-adjusted ratings and has won from similar marks over hurdles when trained in Ireland.

16:35 Gordon’s Jet

GORDON’S JET shaped encouragingly in a first-time hood and tongue strap when second on his handicap debut at Hexham last month, running on well to be beaten only five lengths. A fairly useful performer in bumpers, he should be better than a BHA mark of 115 over hurdles and is well worth another chance to prove as much here, especially with former champion jockey Brian Hughes taking over in the saddle.

17:10 Amalfi Doug

AMALFI DOUG goes well at this track and ran right up to his best when second over three miles here last time, digging deep to push the winner all the way to line. The first two pulled well clear of the rest on that occasion, so the handicapper may have underestimated Amalfi Doug by putting him up just 1 lb in the weights. He is equally effective over this shorter trip and looks sure to give another good account as he seeks a sixth career win at Perth.

17:45 Follow Your Fire

FOLLOW YOUR FIRE had plausible excuses when only fifth at Uttoxeter on Tuesday, with the soft going seemingly not playing to his strengths. He had created a good impression when winning his previous start at Hexham and could yet build on that performance now back on better ground and fitted with first-time cheekpieces.
