LARGO BAY showed the benefit of cheekpieces when an excellent runner-up over C&D last week and is taken to go one better now off the same mark. Both Fair Power and Clipsham Tiger are a long time without a win but arrive in good nick and appeal as the duo to chase home the selection in that order.

FINAL VOYAGE has built up a very good record on artificial surfaces, running right up to his best when a close-up fourth over 1m at Chelmsford recently. In receipt of his handy 3-y-o allowance, he gets the nod to capitalise now stepping up in trip. Crimewave, back on all-weather, and High Commissioner head up the dangers.

14:10 Olimba

OLIMBA has a reasonable pedigree and represents a trainer enjoying a fine campaign, so a chance is taken on her to make a winning start. Millie Lou and Madame Marmalade arrive on the back of mildly encouraging debuts and are, therefore, considered, but they’re both vulnerable to an above-average improver.

14:45 Shareef Shareef

Given the level achieved by those with experience, it wouldn’t be a surprise should well-bred newcomer SHAREEF SHAREEF make a successful debut. Golden Rainbow has won a race but he looks vulnerable under a penalty, so Charming Wally may well take a big step forward and emerge as the main threat.

15:20 Billy Mill

BILLY MILL had excuses at Goodwood last time and is better judged on his impressive Windsor win the time before, so remains of interest. The in-form veteran Mamillius is another to consider, along with Invincible Larne.

It’s hard to get away from YAGAN, who has improved with each start since sent handicapping and should appreciate this stiffer test of stamina. Bird For Life and Tin Fandango should also go well.

16:20 Obtuse

It’s easy to make cases for, and against, all eight contenders. OBTUSE, who is 2-4 on the all-weather here, may be worth chancing given that he’s now 3 lb lower than when completing the four-timer at Wolverhampton in January. Stablemate Marta Boy has to enter calculations, but if Outcast breaks altertly from stall seven he could be the main danger. Black Sparrow is also shortlisted.
