13.15 – The Buckingham Palace Stakes 1.15pm (7f)
The great Frankie Dettori was hoping to kick off Royal Ascot with a bang on 7/2 fav Daarik but failed to make an impact as Motakhayy stormed home at 14/1, followed by the 66/1 punt Jack’s Point and Mutamaasik at 7s. Paddy Power paid out six places instead of four in this race with Cliffs Of Capri, Shelir and Ebury making up the top six in that order.
13.50 – Queen Anne Stakes 1.50pm (1m)
Circus Maximus pipped Terebellum and Dettori by a nose in a thrilling finish to give Adian O’Brien his first win of the festival. Marie’s Diamond went off at 40s and picked up third with Roseman coming home in fourth.
14.25 – Ribblesdale Stakes 2.25pm (1m4f)
Frankie Dettori claimed virtory on the dominant Frankly Darling who pounced from a couple furlongs out and couldn’t be denied as the 11/8 fav. Ennistymon came home second at 11s while the 13/2 Passion rounded off the top three. 100/1 punt Bharani Star was fourth home to deliver a nice each way bonus to backers as we paid out on the top four for this race.
15.00 – King Edward VII Stakes 3pm (1m4f)
Pyledriver put in a stellar performance to handily beat pre-race favourite Mogul and the highly fancied Mohican Heights who came fourth and third respectively. Arthur’s Kingdom came home in second at 9/2. Questions will be asked about Mogul’s performance but all credit must go to Pyledriver who was an impressive and deserved winner.
15.35 – King’s Stand Stakes 3.35pm (5f)
Odds-on favourite Battaash ended his Ascot hoodoo in impressive fashion, carving the field apart to dominate the King’s Stand stakes. Equilateral pipped the chasing pack, beating Liberty Beach into second place, but today was the day Battaash surely converted some of his doubters into true believers.
16.10 – Duke Of Cambridge Stakes 4.10pm (1m)
Nazeef pipped Agincourt by a nose, reeling in the 28/1 shot in the final furlong to take seal another thriller on the first day of Royal Ascot 2020. Queen Power claimed third and the 125/1 starter Iconic Power landed a handy fourth. Paddy Power are giving you your stake back if your horse finished 2nd, 3rd or 4th in this race.
16.40 – Ascot Stakes 4.40pm (2m4f)
Coeur De Lion suged late to sneak it from 4/1 favourite Verdana Blue in the final day of a cracking day at Royal Ascot. Summer Moon was right in the mix but faded when it mattered to take third. Smart Champion finished outside the top three and led Rochester House in 5th and Land of Oz in 6th. Paddy Power paid six places on this race rather than the usual 4. Cheers Paddy!
