Matt Chapman and the ITV4 crew are at Newmarket on Tuesday and the top man fancies Shine So Bright (2.25pm)...

After a duo of cracking Grand Nationals, the Flat Classic trials are now upon as and there’s a real treat on ITV4 this week with two days at Newmarket on the terrestrial network.

Let’s get straight to it, and the 1.50pm at Newmarket Tuesday is a 6f handicap. TOMMY TAYLOR was a real eye-catcher on his seasonal debut at Doncaster when out the back before running on strongly in a big field. He has great each-way claims for Kevin Ryan and Tom Eaves.

Next up is the 2.25pm, the Listed Free Handicap over 7f. SHINE SO BRIGHT was placed in the Richmond, Mill Reef and Gimcrack Stakes last season. Many of those runs suggested this step up in trip would suit for Andrew Balding and Silvestre de Sousa who has a new contract with the King Power owners of this horse.

The 3.00pm is the Listed Feilden Stakes over 1m 1f. KICK ON was a few places behind Western Australia when they ran in the Group One Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster, but I suspect my selection has more scope to improve. He looked good when winning his maiden and has Oisin Murphy on board which is a big plus.

And finally, ITV show the 1,000 Guineas Classic trial that is the Group 3 Nell Gwyn Stakes over 7f at 15.35pm. MAIN EDITION ran some cracking races last season and looked sure to stay 7f but didn’t quite get home in two tries. She may well have strengthened up as a three-year-old and has fine each-way claims.

So best of luck and let’s get those Yeeehaaas! going for the Flat. You hear me Paddy?
