It’s the final day of the Chester May meeting on Friday and I’m expecting it to be a miserable one for Paddy. You hear me big lad?
Let’s get straight into the action, and the 2.10pm is a handicap over an extended 7f. The Clive Cox yard is going well, and ARCHIE could just be a well handicapped horse. He’s lightly raced and a fourth at Kempton first time up this season was a reasonable effort. He stays this trip well and will be hard to keep out the frame.

It’s the Listed Dee Stakes over an extended 1m 2f at 2.40pm. Aidan O’Brien has a strong hand, but I’ll take a chance with the Charlie Hills-trained HIGH GROUNDS. (NON RUNNER.)
The selection ran a fair third behind Derby hope Midterm at Sandown last time and I suspect he will improve a fair bit on that. You can’t tip Aidan’s runners in everything!
The Group 3 Ormonde Stakes is at 3.10pm and I’m going with the useful hurdler WICKLOW BRAVE who didn’t get the ground he likes over jumps this season.
This surface is ideal, and he has some decent Flat form, including in Group company and was second in the Ebor last season at York. He’s got a bit of pace.
Finally, we have a dash over a few yards over 5f at 3.45pm. I’ll have a few quid on MONT KIARA, who couldn’t cope with Group class at the end of last season but looked progressive before that as a juvenile. His draw is good enough to have a chance and has Chester specialist Frannie Norton aboard.
So here we go again. Bets of luck and let’s hope for some Yeeehaaas!
