5.00pm, Dundalk – Alwisaam
ALWISAAM is only having his third start for the stable and has already shown improved form around here over course and distance the last two times. He is nicely positioned just off the inside rail for what is undoubtedly the trickiest starting position at Dundalk as they fire straight into the bend. Originally he was a 110,000 guineas purchase and he looks well weighted to strike from a high rating in the 40s.
5.15pm, Newcastle – Broctune Red
BROCTUNE RED had been running well over this course and distance prior to an easy victory last time under Oliver Stammers. That was in an apprentice race, so he escapes any punishment from the handicapper and slots back in here on the same mark of just 55. He’s drawn towards the stand side which is a massive bonus and the young pilot Stammers retains the ride and is having a very good start to the campaign.

6.15pm, Newcastle – Chookie Dunedin
CHOOKIE DUNEDIN was arguably a very unlucky loser a week ago at Wolverhampton when just short of room at a vital stage in a particularly hot handicap. Dropping back from 7f to the stiff 6f here is the right move, judged on the way he travelled on that occasion. Joe Fanning doesn’t make too many mistakes and expect him to be heading straight up from stall 11 on the favoured side of the racetrack.
7.00pm, Dundalk – Koybig
KOYBIG showed that his turn is approaching with a very promising run from out the back of the pack last time. He sits at the top of the weights, but he is competitively treated on a rating of 70. Most of his winning has been done around this venue, while he is drawn better on this occasion and should be able to sit no worse than mid division, then produce that telling late run.

7.15pm, Newcastle – Lorna Cole
LORNA COLE has only had a few tries for the all-weather champion trainer Michael Appleby and looks to be getting his act together judged on the way he finished his race, when being out-paced over the sharp one-turn 5f at Wolverhampton. This test is bound to see him in a better light and surprisingly he makes his first appearance back here since winning very early on in his career over course and distance. He can be another winner for the leading all-weather trainer, who is trying to fend off the Mark Johnston juggernaut, who is in his rear-view mirror.
7.30pm, Dundalk – Speak In Colours
SPEAK IN COLOURS has been a very solid performer for this trainer and regularly pictches up in top-level sprints, be it at home or in the UK. He has a fairly decent record fresh, which bodes well for his chances on Friday night and he will get the pace he needs to produce his best finish. Surprisingly, it’s his first try on a synthetic surface, but it should prove no barrier to success.
