15:40: Howden Insurance Brokers Mares’ Novice Hurdle (Listed)

The vote goes to DINOBLUE, who resumed her progress when a never-nearer fourth at Fairyhouse 9 days ago and is capable of better still after only 3 career starts. Grangee will be suited by a return 2m and can bounce back, while Party Central is another capable of making her presence felt.

16:15: Bective Stud Champion Novice Hurdle (Grade 1)

SIR GERHARD is not short of speed, so with a return to 2m unlikely to pose a problem, he’s taken to extend his unbeaten record over hurdles to 4. Dysart Dynamo can provide the main threat.

16:50: Killashee Hotel Handicap Hurdle (Grade B)

GLAN arrives on the back of a career-best win at Fairyhouse and is fancied to defy a 7 lb rise and follow up at the chief expense of Ardla, who goes into handicaps on a handy-looking opening mark. Sit Down Lucy and Clifton Warrior both figure high on the shortlist too.

17:25: William Hill Champion Chase (Grade 1)

This is likely to boil down to a shootout between the Willie Mullins-trained duo, CHACUN POUR SOI and Energumene. It’s no surprise that Paul Townend sticks with the up-and-coming Energumene following his Champion Chase victory at Cheltenham but preference is for his stablemate, who was bowling along nicely when unseating five-out in that race. Chacun Pour Soi landed this contest 12 months ago and has been beaten just once from nine starts over fences in Ireland. Andy Dufresne is third choice.

18:00: Goffs Land Rover Bumper

CALDWELL POTTER was an expensive store and his full brother Mighty Potter (won a bumper) has developed into a smart hurdler this season, so Jamie Codd’s mount is a tentative choice to make a winning start. Fellow newcomers Rocco Ray and As Tears Go By (stablemate of the selection) also make plenty of appeal in what could prove to be a hot race.

18:35: Dooley Insurance Group Champion Novice Chase (Grade 1)

It would be something of an understatement to say that BOB OLINGER was a fortuitous winner of the Turners Novices’ Chase at last month’s Cheltenham Festival, given that Galopin Des Champs was well clear when exiting at the final fence. Still, he faces nothing of that rival’s calibre here and is taken to make it 4-4 over fences now upped to 3m for the first time under Rules. Fury Road is just about second choice ahead of Capodanno and British raider Millers Bank.

19:10: Kildare Hunt Club Cross Country Chase for the Ladies’ Perpetual Cup

This could develop into a duel between the useful GOOD BYE SAM and Rules debutant De Nordener. The latter has won been successful in points and represents a stable with a good record in this event, but he might just lack the class of Willie Mullins’ representative, who gets the marginal vote. Vital Island is the pick of the remainder.

19:45: Mick The Tent INH Flat Race

Those with experience don’t set the bar high so it’ll be a surprise if this doesn’t go to a newcomer. Monalee’s half-brother FIRM FOOTINGS gets a tentative vote but Willie Mullins pair Lisnagar Fortune and Vadsa Queen, Jessie Harrington’s Summer Gale and the Charles Byrnes-trained Hopeforarun are other likely types on paper in a contest where the betting is sure to be informative.
