13:10 Castel Gandolfo

Most of these have quite a lot to prove on one count or another and it is hard to get away from CASTEL GANDOLFO, who has run well in all four of his hurdle starts and sets a fair standard on his near miss at Exeter three weeks ago. The main threat could come from the fairly useful Flat performer Edinburgh Castle, who is an interesting recruit to hurdling for his new yard.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

13:40 Furius De Ciergues (NAP)

The one that appeals most is the progressive FURIUS DE CIERGUES (nap), who made it 2-3 since wind surgery when forging clear under a positive ride at Stratford last month and still looks feasibly treated off his revised mark. Loch Garman Aris chased home a major improver over C&D four weeks ago and could pose a serious threat if he can back that up. Third on the list is Seemingly So, who should appreciate this step back up in trip and looks well handicapped if he can get back near his best.

14:15 The Some Dance Kid

In an open race, THE SOME DANCE KID, who has been hinting at a return to form, is taken to maintain his 100% record at Bangor. The main threat could come from El Borracho after wind surgery, but topweight Dave And Bernie is solid and Caddyhill may have more to offer as he moves into handicaps.

14:50 Armattiekan

Rebel Royal is well treated now and was in contention when falling at Kempton last time, but more solid claims are held by ARMATTIEKAN, who is building a consistent record over fences and ran well over C&D four weeks ago. His chief rival could turn out to be recent Exeter scorer Generation Gap.

15:25 Juge Et Parti

This looks a bit trappy but JUGE ET PARTI is only 2lb higher than for his 2m7f hurdle win in December and he returned to chasing with a clear third behind a major improver at Uttoxeter last month. He looks a solid option and gets the vote ahead of Donnie Brasco, who turned things around with his placed effort behind a handicap blot last time and is a big player if he can build on that. Another to consider is Miss Jeanne Moon, who looks interesting at this new trip on her chase debut.

16:00 Valentine’s Turf

Nicky Henderson’s well-bred Chives is still unexposed and could show a lot more back over this stiffer stamina test in his first handicap. He’s respected along with Dynamic Kate, who was a promising fourth in a similar race on her handicap debut in March and is open to further progress. However, slight preference is for another lightly raced type in VALENTINE’S TURF, who hit a personal best with his strong-finishing third at Taunton and looks a major player on his step back up to this trip.

16:35 Kilchreest Moon

Although his jumping was a bit erratic at Chepstow, KILCHREEST MOON showed determination when it came to the crunch and held off a clear second to come out on top. A 5lb rise for that breakthrough win looks fair and he gets the vote in his bid to make it 2-3 for Henry Oliver. On The Platform and Cosheston are feared most in that order, though Midnight Jewel could be dangerous on his drop back in trip and the handicap newcomer Latino Fling needs watching in the market.

17:05 All The Glory

Malaita is a key player after her promising debut third at Worcester three weeks ago but there are plenty of interesting contenders in opposition. Irish point winner First Glance is a sister to a bumper winner, while Way Past Midnight was an easy winner of a point bumper in 2019 and needs watching in the market on her comeback. Nicky Henderson’s Fairy Rose looks the part on paper but the vote goes to another well-bred newcomer in ALL THE GLORY, who represents a yard with a record of 3-4 in bumpers here in recent years.
