Paddy Power ambassador Phil Thompson is back to discuss England’s next World Cup showdown and this time it’s an all-British clash with Wales.
A win would see England top Group B, while Wales are hoping to upset their rivals, but need to win 4-0 to finish above them and hope for a draw in Iran v USA to have a chance of getting through to the knockouts. Who will come out on top? Here’s Thommo’s thoughts…
England face off against Wales on Tuesday night with Gareth Southgate’s men looking to top Group B. He could make a couple of changes to his starting line up, however, the Three Lions should have more than enough to beat Wales, who come into this one on the back of their disappointing 2-0 defeat against Iran. England to Win kicks off my Bet Builder!
Both Teams to Score? No
I’m expecting England to create plenty of chances and score but I’m not fancying Wales to get on the scoresheet. They’ve only scored once in this World Cup and that came from the penalty spot. I’m going with Both Teams to Score? No.

A lot has been made of Harry Kane’s injury as well as his form in Qatar. He failed to score in England’s 6-2 win against Iran, however, Southgate’s side were brilliant that day. He then looked out of sorts against USA but he could be struggling with his ankle injury.
I reckon Southgate will start Kane against Wales as England eye the win. It also gives the Tottenham man a chance to find some form. If he starts, I like Kane to Score Anytime.
Over 5.5 Corners
I’m expecting a few corners in Wales v England. Both teams will be going for it and crosses will be coming into the box for both sides, especially with Wales likely going forward to Kieffer Moore.
