While Saturday’s Premier League fixtures were obliterated by Covid we’re left with a healthy three games on Sunday. There’s a couple of crackers on the TV as well with the Petrodollar derby in Newcastle v Manchester City as well as Tottenham v Liverpool.
Former Kop star and current Paddy Power ambassador Phil Thompson returns once again to run the rule of the day’s games and he’s found a nice value punt in the City game that he’s very fond of. So, let’s get Thommo’s verdict on Sunday’s Premier League action.
TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League
This is one of the big fixtures in the Premier League and we’re getting to the half-way stage now. Liverpool have been racking up the numbers, I don’t need to go into them again.
When you talk about Manchester City and Liverpool, they’ve just been absolutely incredible. It was a dood win against Newcastle for Liverpool in midweek, they weren’t at their best but this is what this Liverpool team’s made of.
With Spurs you’re unsure what we’re going to get because of the Covid situation, because of missing these games. Has Antonio Conte been able to work with them? You have to look at this as a Liverpool victory.
I do fancy them. I’ve got Both Teams To Sore, I don’t think it will be a runaway Liverpool victory. I just fancy Liverpool to win by the odd goal.
TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League
You’re looking at the stats and Newcastle have only had that one victory this season. It is hard to look anywhere near them getting anything. It’s score lines here, guys. What are we going to be going for?
City defensively are very good. Newcastle put up a fight at Anfield but it wasn’t good enough. I can see this City side being all over Newcastle’s defence. I don’t think they’ll be able to cope with the high press, if you watched the game Liverpool scored a goal by pressing high.
This Newcastle defence is rattled so it is a score line. I’m going 3-0 to Manchester City. I do fancy it in a big, big way.
