Paddy’s football ambassador Phil Thompson returns with the good folk of PPTV to unearth some vale for Sunday’s Premier League games.
The famously-impartial Thommo gets stuck into Everton’s trip to Newcastle at 2pm on Sunday and explains how the Toffees have helped him narrowly avoid a nose bleed the size of the Mersey as well as tipping up a correct score on Sunday.
Newcastle v Everton
Did Everton get a bit of a nose bleed being so high up the table? Well it’s a good job it wasn’t a nose bleed for me because it would have been like the River Mersey! But, I think it was a bit of a bloody nose for them. There’s a bit of expectancy on them from the Evertonians who have been very bullish.
Sunday 2pm: Newcastle v Everton
Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League
Richarlison was missing last week, obviously it was the first of his three-game ban. It wasn’t just the 2-0 defeat against Southampton that hurt the Evertonians, it was the lack of quality all round in defence, in midfield and up front. It was so disjointed.
I think Southampton actually ran out quite easy winners. To add insult to injury, Lucas Digne gets sent off. I thought it was harsh. That’s coming from a Liverpool man!
I thought it was harsh. Richarlison and Digne are two important players for them because the delivery from Digne is really important from his side for the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin. So, I think that they will be a miss. I think Newcastle got out of jail against Wolves, I really do.
THOMMO’S TIP:I think Newcastle have got to up their game and I see the two things balancing themselves out here so I’m going for a Draw at St James Park, a score draw, 1-1.
Football Tips: Thommo’s 11/2 St James’ selection for the Toon v the Toffees
The Everton bandwagon had a wobble last weekend, but can Carlo Ancelotti get it rolling again against Newcastle?
