Ukraine were full value for their 3-1 win over Scotland in Wednesday’s play-off semi-final at Hampden Park. Oleksandr Petrakov’s side cut Scotland’s defence to ribbons on Wednesday and would have won even more comfortably were it not for Craig Gordon’s heroics.
NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?
Despite many of their squad not playing for several months, Ukraine played silky, crisp football throughout and will cause all sorts of problems for Wales on Sunday. It feels like a long time ago that Gareth Bale inspired Wales to a 2-1 win over Austria in March, which could be to their disadvantage on Sunday against a well-oiled side like Ukraine.

Sunday 5pm: Wales v Ukraine
World Cup Playoff final
TV: ITV, S4C, Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football
Ukraine to win
Wales lost out to Poland on Wednesday in what was an entirely inconsequential Nations League opener, with many of their star names given a rest ahead of Sunday. That could prove counter-productive, however, considering Ukraine are already in full flight ahead of Sunday’s decider. Ukraine to Win kicks us off.
Both teams to score
Ukraine utterly dominated Wednesday’s game at Hampden Park, but they still gave Scotland a glimmer of hope through the concession of a comical goal with ten minutes remaining. Goalkeeper Heorhiy Bushchan seemed desperate to offer Scotland a route back into the semi-final, first presenting John McGinn with a golden opportunity midway through the second half before eventually conceding an incredibly soft goal to Callum McGregor.
Ukraine have kept just one clean sheet in their last 16 competitive games and are unlikely to make that two in 17 against a Wales side that has scored 13 goals in their last seven games. There should be goals on Sunday night so back Both Teams to Score.

Roman Yaremchuk to Score Anytime
Roman Yaremchuk has proved vital to Ukraine’s World Cup hopes so far, winning four points for his side during the group campaign with three crucial goals before putting them 2-0 up on Wednesday with a guided header.
Yaremchuk enjoyed a modest return of six goals in 13 league starts for Benfica this season, also notching three goals in six starts in the Champions League during Benfica’s run to the last-eight. He will provide a threat against Wales on Sunday and can fire Ukraine to their first World Cup appearance since 2006 with an Anytime Goal.
Gareth Bale to Score Anytime
Gareth Bale finally cut ties with Real Madrid earlier in the week and can now fully focus on the football he appears to enjoy. Bale has long been phoning it in at club level, but his international form has never dipped.
His two goals saw Wales overcome Austria in their play-off semi-final in March and his goalscoring touch will be vital again on Sunday if Wales are to book their place in their first World Cup since 1958. Bale has scored 27 of his 38 international goals in qualifying games, so the stage is set for him to find the back of the net again Anytime on Sunday.
