Sunday sees the third El Clasico of the season as Real Madrid host Barcelona in La Liga. Los Blanco have scored 14 goals over their last five fixtures in all competitions, scoring 13 over their five most previous La Liga games and 14 over their last five at home, scoring at least two in four of those five home La Liga matches.
Barcelona have netted 12 over their last five in all competitions, 14 over their last five in La Liga and 10 over their last five league away trips. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Score Anytime
Karim Benzema has been having a great season so far, scoring a total of 32 goals over his 33 appearances for the hosts over the campaign. The French international has faced Barcelona 41 times over his career, scoring 11 goals in total and you can make a great argument to back him here. However, it’s the former Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyan who we’re giving the nod to here in our Bet Builder. The Gabon international has only played 10 competitive games for Barca this season but has scored seven over those 10 appearances and has six goals to his name over his last seven for the Catalans. Both teams have been pretty well-behaved this season, Real are averaging just 1.71 cards per home La Liga game with Barcelona receiving an average of 3.14 on their away league trips. However, we all know that there’s always some needle in El Clasico fixtures. Of their five most recent meetings there have been an average of five cards per game and at games at the Santiago Bernabeu we’ve seen an average of 5.2 cards over their last five meetings there.
Sergio Busquests has been a warrior for Barcelona over his career and is always more than willing to take a card for the team when needed. The Spain international has faced off against Real 42 times over his career and picked up 12 cards over that period, 11 yellow and one red. With so much traffic going through the centre of midfield in this one there’s some decent value in backing him to receive a booking anytime here.
The Draw
Finally then we have to look at the match result. Both teams are in mighty fine form of late and scoring plenty of goals. Both are conceding too and really both sides here have comparative talent all over the pitch. Barcelona’s massive problems from the first half of the season look to be behind them and there’s an air of confidence around the team that was very much missing following the departure of who-know-how to Paris. Real too are machine-like in their dismissal of most things that come in front of them but we see both cancelling each other out here in what should be a pulsating match so we’re backing the Draw.
