Friday

17:45 Longford Town v Sligo Rovers – Sligo to win

Both sides have had a great start to the season. Longford fought back last week against Bohemians from 2-0 down, to grab a draw in the end. Sligo drew the first night aaginst Dundalk and then won against Waterford last week.

I reckon Sligo’s good form will continue this weekend at the expense of Longford Town. I think they’ll have too much for them on the night and an away win looks the most likely outcome to me.

19:45 Shamrock Rovers v Dundalk – Shamrock Rovers to win

Possibly the game of the weekend and a tricky one to call here. There has been a rivalry built up over the last few years between both clubs. Dundalk have had a really poor start to the season. A draw away to Sligo Rovers followed by a really poor showing against Finn Harps last week. Should they have any aspirations of getting close to Shamrock Rovers, they can’t afford many slip-ups like the one against Finn Harps.

Shamrock Rovers weren’t in action last week. I think the home side will have too much here for me. They played each other in the Presidents cup a few weeks ago, and you would have been confident looking at Dundalk that day, going into a regular season match like this. However they’ve had a brutal start as mentioned, and I cant see it getting any better on Friday evening.  A home win.

Saturday

18:00 Drogheda v Finn Harps – Draw

It really has been an amazing start for the league leaders Finn Harps. They are riding the crest of a wave at the moment. They’ve carried their end-of-season run of from from last season, into this season with a few wins already.

A tough one to call here, with Drogheda unlucky last week. A draw looks the most likely outcome for me in an intriguing contest.

18:00 Derry City v Waterford Utd – Derry to win

A huge night for Derry on Saturday. they will have to improve on their performance against Longford in the opening week.

I still think they will beat Waterford here. A lot of unknowns coming into this new season with Waterford but they have acquitted themselves quite well thus far. Derry will be keen to put that result against Longford Town behind them however, and I expect them to get their first win of the season here.

18:00 Bohemians v St Patricks – Draw

Really looking forward to his one. A Dublin derby with both teams having contrasting starts to their respective seasons so far. St Pats off to the better start out of the two with Bohemians disappointing in their two games so far.

Too tough to call for me here, so another draw looks on the cards between these two. Plenty of tight calls over the weekends matches, and this is just another one of those.

Cawley’s Call – Shamrock Rovers, Derry City and Galway Utd all to win

Cawley’s Call is struggling at the minute with so many surprise results so far. We’ll hopefully get back on track this weekend. Shamrock Rovers will hopefully kick it off with a home win against a struggling Dundalk side. Derry have to bounce back for me against Waterford.

I think they will do just that. Finally, I will dip into Division 1 this week. Galway, who are one of the favorite’s to win Division 1 this season. They’re away to Athlone Town on Friday night. They can complete the treble.
