Neymar’s luxury yacht has blocked the Manchester Ship Canal, with latest reports suggesting that the Brazilian superstar is angling for a summer move to Old Trafford.
The eighty-foot vessel, complete with gold livery and a crew of around 20, is currently grounded outside the Lowry Theatre, a stones-throw away from the Theatre of Dreams.
There had been rumours that Neymar had been in the stands to watch United secure their place in next season’s Champions League with a 4-1 victory over Chelsea on Thursday night, and this morning, commuters on their way to work were startled to see his boat docked at Salford Keys.
As crowds began to gather, an eyewitness told Paddy Power News:
“It’s definitely Neymar. He’s even got personalised fenders on there with his face on. He was up on the top deck a short while ago doing keepy-uppies, but he had to pack up when his ball went overboard and started floating out towards the Irish Sea.”

Neymar has been heavily linked with a move to the Red Devils following favourable comments he made about fellow Brazilian international Casemiro. His PR representatives were reluctant to go into too much detail about why their client had suddenly pitched up in Manchester. However, a spokesperson for the Paris Saint-Germain star was prepared to tell us that:
“All we know is that he set sail from Calais on Tuesday but he must have taken a wrong turn somewhere, because we were given no indication that he was heading for Manchester.
“As far as we were concerned, he was sailing to a Greek island for his sister’s birthday. His other sister.”
Neymar is currently side-lined with injury, but the smart money is on him moving away from the French capital when the current campaign concludes.
His friendship with Casemiro seems to have United in pole position to land his signature, despite reservations from many that boss Erik ten-Hag would be taking on a whole heap of trouble having already sent Cristiano Ronaldo packing earlier this season.
We asked a club insider to give us the latest.
“We’ve all seen the comments from ex-United players claiming that he’s a bit of a ‘show pony’ and I’m not prepared to make any further comment at this time.
“What I will say however, is that the gaffer is going to get rid of a few donkeys after the FA Cup Final.”
And Manchester will have plenty to offer the Brazilian should he make the move.
“There’s a great pool down Wythenshawe Forum where he can dive around as much as he likes,” a local told us.
