Liverpool fans organise title celebration for today as restrictions lift

A Premier League champions party is set to take place this Monday in celebration of Liverpool’s title success – despite them no longer being champions, Paddy Power News can reveal.

Having won the title during a national pandemic and with everybody locked in their houses for over a year, it is understood that Liverpool fans are “unhappy” with how underwhelming it all was – with the belief that they should retain champion-status until stadiums are full again.

“Absolute joke if you ask me. The only thing worse than the way we won the title was our defence of it,” said Stevie Thompson to Paddy Power News.

“We deserve to be recognised as champions for a little bit longer than everyone else because winning the title means more to us. That’s why this Monday we’ll be celebrating.

“We want Trent, Virgil and the boys to know that they are still the Premier League champions, despite what the media, Premier League, FA, UEFA, FIFA, lawmakers, legal entities and record books will have you believe.”

Local authorities, who have been informed of the situation, offered this statement:

“Our initial worry was that Liverpool fans out celebrating their title success might run into Manchester City fans also out celebrating the exact same title success, and things could get heated.

However, this seems extremely unlikely as all 12 of City’s fans have already visited the Etihad and nobody even noticed them come or go.

“We are quite content for Liverpool supporters to enjoy their celebration. We just hope it doesn’t encourage Blackburn Rovers fans to take to the streets to celebrate their 1995 title success, or Bolton Wanderers fans to gather in masses to celebrate their 1953 FA Cup win.”

Elsewhere in Liverpool related news, it seems the club will have a fight on their hands to keep hold of their best players this summer, with the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona in the market for fresh faces.

Despite the fact he’s leaving the club at the end of the season, speaking to a Spanish journalist Zinedine Zidane admitted he needed to bring the average age of his Real Madrid midfield down from 51, with 30-year-old Jordan Henderson top of his shopping list.
