The Worst Team Ever: Derby old boys Danny Mills and Alan Stubbs pray for a Sheffield Utd miracle

Looks like the pain will go on for Derby supporters.

The Derby team of 2007/08 must’ve thought their luck was about to change when watching Sheffield United this season. That season the Rams chalked up the lowest Premier League points tally ever with just 11 from their 38 games.

Derby’s misery looked to finally be over, though, with the Blades threatening to perform even worse after a dire start to the campaign.

That is until Man United so rudely spoiled the party this week, of course.

Danny Mills and Alan Stubbs were just two of the players left with scars from that record-breaking season more than 10 years ago.

And they’ve teamed up with us at Paddy Power for a comedy sketch where Mills – who is keen to stress he was only a loanee (he only played two games, you know. TWO!) – visit his Derby fan dentist before he meets up with Stubbsy at a Rams Anonymous group.

The pair are seen commiserating with supporters, as they share their experiences of the worst top-flight season tally ever, before turning their attention to Sheffield United. The Blades are seen providing some much-needed comfort for the Rams, as the group creates a shrine to them, and their current eight points on the table which could break Derby’s duck.

Well, that looked a lot more hopeful until Wednesday and that 2-1 win over Manchester United to record their first win over the club since 1973, and just their second win of the season.
