Champions League of Darts: Our Traders’ Outright Tips have landed

It's the week we've all (well, all of us in Power Tower) been waiting for

Outright Tips:

It’s safe to say that all tournaments these days hinge on the form of the world number one, Michael van Gerwen. Much like his predecessor, Phil Taylor, when he shows up in form, he wins. As he said in his post-match interview after his first-round match in the Grand Prix, “he is the boss”.

MVG has had a fairly tumultuous year by his standards. He went on a streak of eleven matches without averaging over a ton, had one of his biggest TV-match upsets in years when losing to Dawson Murschell in the World Cup of Darts (where he averaged a measly 84), and he has lost in three European Tour Finals – something which hadn’t happened since May 2017.

His doubling and scoring has let him down at different points throughout this season but despite all this “the boss” managed to pull it together for what ended up being a fairly dominant performance at the World Grand Prix.

Like Taylor did before him, even when he’s not at his best he can win easily.

We expect more of the same this week, so we recommend backing MVG at Evens for the title.

Another one who looked primed for a good week is Welshman Gerwyn Price. He has had a good season this year winning three players championship events and a European Tour event, and we reckon he could go well at 10/1 each-way. Or another angle would be to back the MVG and Price in the Name the Finalists market at 12/1.

Other Bets:

Peter Wright arrives here in fine fettle having posted the world record for the highest live broadcast average ever in the Players Championship on Monday. We reckon he could go well in Group B too. You could do worse than backing Group B – Dual Forecast: Peter Wright and Gerwyn Price at 5/1.

Similarly, Peter Wright may represent some value in the Most 180s in the Tournament market where he is 10/1. If he can manage to get out of the group stages and his grouping continues as it has been earlier in the week then he should have a good shot at this.

In Group A, we reckon Gary Anderson may end up picking up the pieces behind MVG. He looks the bet in the To Qualify from Group A market at 10/11. Or you can do the Dual Forecast for Group A – MVG and Gary Anderson at 7/4.

Traders’ Betting Summary:

MVG to win the tournament @ Evens
Gerwyn Price to win the tournament @ 10/1 each-way
MVG and Price to reach the final @ 12/1
Peter Wright most 180s in the Tournament @ 10/1

Gary Anderson to qualify from Group A @ 10/11
MVG and Gary Anderson Dual Forecast for Group A @ 7/4
Peter Wright and Gerwyn Price Dual Forecast for Group B @ 5/1
