Moonstone Boy is yet to run a bad race after five starts and is good enough to win a contest of this nature soon, but he wasn’t far ahead of ORCHARD PARK when that filly made a promising debut over C&D ten days ago and, with that experience under her belt, Karl Burke’s runner seems likely to show the necessary improvement.

17:30 Caustic

Strictly on the book Eleanor Cross should be able to avenge last month’s narrow Lingfield defeat by CAUSTIC on 6lb better terms, but she has had more chances on the Flat than her old rival, and the selection still managed to win that race despite things not panning out ideally. He is therefore taken to confirm the form. The presence of the useful National Hunt horses Marble Sands and Secret Squirrel adds extra spice to this contest, and the market should be interesting as regards their chances on Flat debut, as it should be for the returning Cannon Rock.

    18:00 Tropez Power (NAP)

    Gincident is respected, now back off his last winning mark, while Borgi is running well enough to play a part. Assessment is worth a market check on stable debut after another layoff, given his fine record fresh, but the vote goes to TROPEZ POWER (nap) whose record over C&D reads 131 and who should get the solid pace he requires.

    18:30 King Of Speed

    Former sprinter KING OF SPEED squeezed through a gap before keeping on well to score when upped to 8.6f at Wolverhampton three weeks ago and is only 2lb higher here. He might still have untapped potential over about 1m and gets the nod ahead of Perfect Swiss, who won off a reduced mark in first-time blinkers last month and is likely to be suited by this move back up from 7f. Candy Warhol and Daafy should also be on the premises.

    19:00 Eagle’s Realm

    Caldwell may be proving inconsistent, but he is effective around here, which makes him a player, if on a going day, as is the unexposed Military Tycoon. However, this may be between the bang-in-form pair The Craftymaster and EAGLE’S REALM. The former has proved a revelation since joining Tony Carroll and bids for a six-timer, but he is unraced here, while the latter has gained his last two wins at this venue, the latest over this trip last month. That could make all the difference.

        19:30 Bringbackmemories

        Although this trip may be on the sharp side for her now, Fox Flame is still respected, having dropped to a handy mark, but preference is for BRINGBACKMEMORIES, who won over 1m4f here in January and ran well when third over C&D last time. Ninth Life may be suited by the step back up in trip, while Tiger Beetle and Absolute Queen are others for the shortlist.

        20:00 Young Endless

        Despite still having stamina to prove, a record of 4-7 since joining the stable means that Destinado has to be respected. Basilette may be suited by the longer trip, while Socialist Agenda ran well here last time, so both make the shortlist, but the choice is YOUNG ENDLESS, who has finished third behind thriving sorts in two of his three starts since joining this yard.

        20:30 Prince Abu

        Stolen Encounter was turned over at short odds last time, but his two runner-up finishes since returning in January still make him a leading player in this field. Midnight Shimmer is another open to further improvement, but it may be worth taking a chance with three-time course winner PRINCE ABU, who hasn’t found things panning out his way a couple of times lately and has dropped to an inviting mark.
