Horse Racing tips: A 6/1 play leads the way at Doncaster tonight

17:20 – Theme Park

Escarpment is a promising recruit to handicaps and should have a big run in him, while Maximilian Caesar has run well in both handicaps and can go well on his return to action. THEME PARK has to leave his reappearance effort behind him but he was promising at two and it could be that the soft ground was all against him at Redcar.

17:55 – Elite Status

Battaah should build on his C&D debut third last Saturday but might be vulnerable to at least one of the very well-bred newcomers in this line-up. ELITE STATUS, Matloob and Lightning Point are selected in that order of preference but the betting will provide more clues. 

18:25 – Awtaar

A modest maiden in which money for any of the newcomers would look significant. Higher Law is respected down to 6f on his first run for a new yard but AWTAAR gets the vote. This is more suitable than the 7f event she tackled at Newmarket on her reappearance and there was clear promise when finishing fourth on her debut at Yarmouth last season.

18:55 – Danzan

The finish to last year’s Ayr Bronze Cup was fought out by DANZAN (NAP) and Fast And Loose and the selection, who has the benefit of a recent run, can confirm the placings. Of the remainder, Venturous is into the veteran stage but the handicapper has given him a helping hand on turf while Woven usually runs well without winning.

19:25 – Valsad

Provided the ten-month absence is no bother, VALSAD could well prove difficult to beat. He looks capable of further improvement this season and takes a drop back in class. Dual course winner Matchless is second choice, ahead of Haarar and Gibside.

19:55 – Carzola

CARZOLA is an iproving filly who is unbeaten at 2m after back-to-back wins on the Lingfield all weather; had a bit in hand the last time so should cope with the 4lb rise.

20:25 – Stockpyle

Deputy should go well but he would be more appealing on slower ground. How Impressive shouldn’t be far away if reproducing his AW form on this turf debut but STOCKPYLE might be the answer. He ran two sound races over 1m on AW last month and the return to 7f and turf can see him take a step forward.
