14:15 Newmarket – Queen Olly

I’m going to give her one last chance to fulfil her potential from last season. She drops back in distance after running a fair race over the long sprint distance of 7f last time and this could be the answer. They do have the addition of a tongue tie this time around so let’s hope it finally all clicks into place for the Queen Olly.

14:50 Newmarket – Chairmanoftheboard (each-way)

Chairmanoftheboard did us a favour last time when stepping up dramatically from his Doncaster effort. He looks poised to produce another solid performance in a big-field handicap which is what he loves. At the prices is sneaking into each-way territory and Paddy’s bound to have an extra place or two.

15:05 Goodwood – Honiton

The Gosdens’ runner has been very unlucky in his short career, bumping into the likes of Secret State, My Prospero and Eldar Eldarov who are all now rated well up in the hundred. Honiton is much better than his poor performance at Royal Ascot last season when last seen and can make a welcome return to the winner’s enclosure.

15:25 Newmarket – Dual Identity

William Knight’s runner Dual Identity hasn’t had a great deal of luck in a few big-field contests last season including the Cambridgeshire where he finished third, but was first home on his ‘side’ of the track. Admittedly, he was slightly disappointing afterwards, but that was at the end of a long season. This 9 furlong test on Saturday looks his optimum trip.

15:40 Thirsk – Northern Express

Given the way he ran on his return at Musselburgh, he looked as if he could stay the easy mile at Thirsk. Northern Express is not badly weighted along with a few in this line-up, but he does have the addition of an inside stall position to help.

16:00 Newmarket – Existent (each-way)

Existent only just failed to reel in the winner Khadeem in this contest 12 months ago off the same mark and it looks the target again. He gets the services of the former champion jockey, Oisin Murphy and that can swing the contest in his favour. He’s a massive each-way price again and is guaranteed to hit the line strongly on this track that suits his running style perfectly.

16:40 Newmarket – Auguste Rodin

The first Classic of the UK Flat season and the feature race of the day. Could we see a Triple Crown winner in waiting? Let’s hope so. This will undoubtedly be Auguste Rodin‘s biggest test but it is something that his master handler Aidan O’Brien has done many times. If you want something at a bigger price, both Noble Style and Holloway Boy could be worth a small interest each-way to hit the places.
