Decent little race this and I think that Bert Kibbler has a great chance again despite the 5lb rise. He dispatched of a few of these last time out over today’s course and distance and looked to do it with a little bit in hand. He’s similar at the weights again with Angle Land who he beat that day. A front running type who by no means will get an easy lead of things but he will be up there which is always a positive here. Three wins from five starts at Southwel, and placing on another start, he clearly goes well on the surface and should be in the mix.
16:35 Lingfield – Micks Spirit
1.5 points each way
Micks Spirit won over C&D in January and after two runs to forget he is back on a handy mark. The 5yo gelding drops to class 5 and is back with Sean Levey which makes him more than dangerous. Has had 15 runs at Lingfield, finishing inside the place money on eight of those occasions, winning four times. It’s difficult to see him out the picture today.
16:50 Southwell – Mukha Magic
1.5 points each way
Mukha Magic is another who loves it round here with seven top three finishes in 13 starts, winning four of those. Is well suited to today’s test and looks well handicapped on his old form. Won of 1lb higher at Lingfield in January and a return to Southwell might just spark him back into form here after some average runs lately. The Ben Curtis booking is a bonus as he rides these all weather tracks very well and has a good style to run prominent which this 7 year old will try and do.
