13:40 – Ioupy Collonges
IOUPY COLLONGES showed improved form to open his account over hurdles at Chepstow last month, gradually drawing clear in the straight to win by 10 lengths. He clearly relished the step up in trip and the timefigure underlined that he was full value for a fairly useful performance. He now makes the switch to handicaps and an opening BHA mark of 117 is unlikely to prove beyond him, with further progress on the cards as he gains in experience.
14:10 – Out Of Office
OUT OF OFFICE created a big impression when gaining a first success over hurdles at Chepstow in December, jumping superbly as he made all to win by seven and a half lengths with plenty in hand. An exciting prospect, he looks destined for bigger and better things and it will be disappointing if he can’t defy a penalty to follow up in what is likely to develop into a match with the only other previous winner in the line-up, Dancila.

14:45 – Brianna Rose
BRIANNA ROSE ran well when finishing third on her latest outing at Ffos Las, doing her best work late on to pass the post only two lengths behind the winner. She is only 1 lb higher in the weights today and the way she shaped there suggests the return to three miles will be in her favour. She rarely runs a bad race and this looks a good opportunity for her to get off the mark for the season if building on the promise of last time.
15:15 – Doctor Ken
DOCTOR KEN has looked a big improver in two starts over fences, first making a winning debut at Aintree in November and then showing even better form in defeat from a 4 lb higher mark when filling the runner-up spot at Ayr a few weeks later. He was beaten just a length and a quarter on the last occasion, again impressing with his sound jumping and pulling clear of the rest. The strength of that form suggests a further 3 lb rise in the weights could underestimate him, particularly if this longer trip can eke out a bit more improvement.
15:45 – Zambezi Fix
ZAMBEZI FIX finally ended his long losing run with a narrow victory at Chepstow last month, edging ahead close home to get the verdict by a neck. He was always doing just enough and it’s fair to say he was probably value for more than the official winning margin. This will be tougher up 4lb, but he’s fancied to prove equal to the task now that he’s back in the winning groove, with Sean Houlihan taking over in the saddle today from a 3lb claimer.
16:15 – Kym Eyre
KYM EYRE ran easily her best race for this yard when finding one too good at Ffos Las a couple of weeks ago, the longer trip clearly suiting one with a background in Irish points. She was left behind by the winner on the run-in (beaten a length and three-quarters) but pulled clear of the rest in the manner of one who could still be one step ahead of the handicapper from a 2 lb higher mark, albeit the drop back in trip today isn’t sure to play to her strengths.
16:45 – Saladins Son
SALADINS SON won his sole start in Irish points and has since joined the Chris Gordon stable having been bought for £95,000. Gordon has a good record with his runners in bumpers and this one could be worth chancing on debut in a race where those with previous experience under Rules don’t set the bar too high.
