I’m going against Sholokjack. While French Paradoxe would have won either way at Newcastle last time out, Castle Rushen was going really well before unseating at the fourth last. His jumping is hit and miss but if he can get it together, he will give Sholokjack a good race.
13:30 Doncaster – Calico
Calico makes the market and rightly so. I couldn’t believe Harry Skelton’s ride on him at Warwick behind Jonbon. I have no idea why he took the lead and why he didn’t just sit back and try to mug him on the line late on. Either way, it was a sound enough run so I’ll go with Calico.
13:50 Kelso – Colonel Mustard & Wajaaha (each way)
I like Colonel Mustard for Lorna Fowler so I give him a big chance but Wajaaha could also go well at a big price. He had a run at Dundalk in January and he stepped up to finish second at Naas last month on his first run over hurdles. He’s a big price and worth an each-way punt.
14:10 Newbury – Pileon
I like Pileon for Christian Williams, who’s back down to a mark of 125. He finished second at Doncaster last month and he can go one more in this.
14:25 Kelso – Feronily
Feronily won a point to point but he didn’t win on his couple of runs at Leopardstown in December and February. It’s a big ask for him to win this but I really don’t fancy any of the others. Feronily is a really tentative pick but I’ll probably just watch this one!

14:45 Newbury – Sebastopol
Zanza was really good when he beat Hitman at Newbury but he’s been hit with a 15lbs rise. I’m not sure he can win off that mark. I’ve tipped up Paint The Dream before but he’s joint-top weight alongside Zanza. Instead, I’ll go with Sebastopol. He beat Stage Star here in November and I fancy him to go well again.
15:00 Kelso – Clay Rogers
I was really taken by Clay Rogers‘ win at Southwell last time as he won his third in a row. He ran a blinder that way and he’s good value at his price.
15:15 Doncaster – Coopers Cross
Cap Du Nord has franked Coopers Cross‘ form after he won at Doncaster in January. He’s had to keep going up in trip to avoid the penalties. There’s an extra couple of furlongs which could help him win again here.
15:35 Kelso – Le Milos
This is a difficult race to call. The Shunter hasn’t ran since November and we haven’t seen him over fences since the Galway Plate. I’m not sold on him and I thought Le Milos was really good in his last win in the Coral Gold Cup at Newbury ahead of Remastered. He can go again.
