Enda Bolger has won this five times in a row. Midnight Maestro triumphed here 12 months ago but was a long way below his best here in November. It may be worth taking a chance with his stablemate STEALTHY TOM whose lack of a prep run is a slight concern. Singing Banjo loves this course and has an edge over John Adams on the basis of a November clash. Hardline is potentially a class act in this sphere but his points form has not been wholly convincing.
Now that he has become a more reliable jumper INDIANA JONES looks set to open his chase account on the ninth attempt. He is better suited by the race conditions than obvious danger Gallyhill. The highly-tried Francin was holding his own when falling three out in a Grade 3 race at Naas last time, but the gallop looked ordinary and he may have been flattered.
Gordon Elliott has won three of the last four editions of this race and now supplies four of the five Gigginstown runners, including Death Duty who beat Champagne Platinum in this race last year. Coko Beach may prove best of Elliott’s quartet and Diol Ker may also feature for Gigginstown, but neither may give away the weight to ANGELS DAWN, a relatively unexposed mare who can continue to improve.
Clash of the big yards here and it is hard to overlook the Elliott pair. Shecouldbeanything should go close back in mares company, but preference is for HARMONYA MAKER who is a relentless galloping type and will take some beating. Eabha Grace looks best of the Mullins duo.
Zefiro Dodville is certainly respected if getting in. Other than that, most of these will struggle to win a race. Clonmel runner-up Senior Chief has a leading chance, but the one to beat could well be QUIRKES GATE, runner-up to a good horse at Naas with the step up in trip a big plus.
There may be more to come from BLUEBELL DIVA who has won two of her last three races and has a pedigree that augurs well for her prospects over this trip. Martha Divine and Verdant Place may also be on the upgrade, and Barbary Master is noteworthy on his second run after a lengthy break.
Some interesting runners here with the Mullins-trained Ballyburn and the Elliott-trained Quantum Storm both coming here after impressive point debuts. The Pat Fahy track newcomer Champagne Admiral has similar credentials. The selection though is IRISH PANTHER after being marginally outstayed by a good Willie Mullins horse at Leopardstown. He looks like a sure winner at some stage.
