17:00 – Prince of Rome

Plenty are in with a shout. Last year’s winner Munificent needs considering along with course scorer Astrophysics. In-form maiden Janaat also enters calculations, especially if the fitting of blinkers has the desired effect. But the vote goes to C&D scorer PRINCE OF ROME who has made an encouraging start for his new yard and is weighted to go close.

17:30 – Glorious Charmer

Preference is for GLORIOUS CHARMER, who has very solid claims on his C&D form this winter and scored in comfortable fashion most recently. Toplight is feared most ahead of Fair And Square.

18:00 – Claddaghduff

Recent Lingfield scorer No Such Luck can’t be ruled out on his first go on Tapeta while C&D scorer Sun Festival and the returning Assembled are two more who need factoring in. But this could rest between in-form duo Captain St Lucifer and CLADDAGHDUFF with preference for Jamie Osborne’s low-mileage 5yo now he steps up in trip.

18:30 – Mountain Song

The leading form contenders are MOUNTAIN SONG, Brightly and Cloudbreaker in that order of preference. The selection nearly made a winning debut over C&D last month, while the second choice has shown promise in two AW contests and the third choice scored cosily on turf when last seen. The newcomers Eternal Hope and Crack Of Light are interesting types who need to be monitored for market confidence. This looks a good novice event.

19:00 – Civil Law

An interesting handicap in which there are a mix of in-form contenders and potentially well-treated revivers. Dark Pine falls into the latter category and he is expected to go well, while the thriving War In Heaven (second choice) shouldn’t be underestimated on this step up in class. Outbreak still has time to deliver on his 2yo promise but CIVIL LAW shone here last year and he kicks off this campaign off a mark that still looks within range.

19:30 – Tequilamockingbird

Today’s switch back to Tapeta should not be a problem for TEQUILAMOCKINGBIRD, who was a very respectable fifth in last month’s Winter Oaks at Lingfield and could still have untapped potential over this longer trip. She gets the nod ahead of Buxted Too, who has won his last three races and is evidently in prime form. Daheer, Nolton Cross and Greystoke can also feature.

20:00 – Carey Street

Solid recent form is at a premium here and it looks a punting minefield. Ri Na Farraige and Victoria Falls bring low mileage and need a market check, while Triggered has the ability to go well if this belated step up in trip has a positive effect, and there are grounds for expecting better from Kodiac Sign. Voltaic looks set to go well back up in trip but CAREY STREET has his first run in a Class 6 handicap for some time and he is tentatively selected.

20:30 – Dark Trooper

All four arrive in good nick but Ed Walker’s improving DARK TROOPER (nap) showed a good turn of foot when scoring at Kempton last time and can make light of a 6lb rise in the weights. Comedian Leader saw her winning run come to an end at Newcastle but she wasn’t seen to best effect there and is feared most ahead of handicap debutant Berkshire Phantom.
