There isn’t too much in the way of exciting domestic action on Tuesday, however, Deauville has a mind-blowing, nine-race card which kicks off at 12.10.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

I’ve sifted through the runners’ countless times since Saturday morning, and I am still not sure where to start. The only downfall I can find is that two of the five feature races have only seven runners, but that’s only for each-way purposes.

All in all, this is a fantastic card with some cracking punting aspects. Here’s hoping we turn a healthy profit on Tuesday.

14.33 GR.1 PRIX ROTHSCHILD – TENEBRISM (NAP)

What a horse race this is! The top four in the market here all come from the shrewdest of stables and each boast fantastic credentials, however, it’s the Aiden O’Brien trained TENEBRISM who gets the NAP vote this week.

The O’Brien camp were slow to get going in France this year, but Tenebrism got the ball rolling by winning the Gr.1 Jean Prat at this course three weeks ago and the yard haven’t looked back since.

The Ballydoyle team took this race with Mother Earth in 2021 and Roly Poly in 2017, who were also three-year-old’s and the 3kg pull that Tenebrism gets from her elders (Saffron Beach included) looks a gift.

Yes, it’s her first step into open company, but the improving filly has already beaten the boys at this track and with the weight allowance, I struggle to see Saffron Beach, or Pearls Galore getting the better of Tenebrism, whose mother, Immortal Verse was also a Gr.1 winner over the same course and distance. NAP!

13.18 GR.3 PRIX DE CABOURG – GOOD GUESS (EACH-WAY)

Firstly, let me just say this – I think that GOOD GUESS is the best two-year-old colt I have seen this year in France. Secondly, he may just lack the experience at stakes level!

There is no doubt that Fabrice Chappet can train a two-year-old. However, sometimes those stepping up to this grade need a run or two to really understand racing and Chappet often says this in his post-race interviews.

A very expensive yearling, Good Guess is two-from-two so far and the form has been boosted. He should love the extra cut in the ground and looks like everything you want in a racehorse.

I think he has the beating of Wootton City and Sivana. He may struggle with The Antarctic, who has some strong experience at this level, but at the prices I will take my chance.

15.08 – TIDES OF WAR (DARK HORSE)

Andre Fabre holds the key to this race and saddles the two highest-rated runners, Joie De Soir and TIDES OF WAR.

The pair are streets clear of the remaining eight runners on official figures and although punters may latch onto the Ryan Moore-ridden filly, Joie De Soir, I think there is plenty to suggest that Tides Of War may win the Fabre tussle.

A talented colt who has taken time to find his level, Tides Of War was lightly-raced last season but looked capable of landing a top contest at some stage. Bred and owned by the Hays, who enjoyed a fantastic week at Glorious Goodwood, the four-year-old was tenderly handled on his return to action three weeks ago.

Apprentice ridden and only asked to do the minimum under hands and heels that day, I think we will see a much fitter and sharper Tides Of War here, especially as Mickael Barzalona takes over. He is an interesting proposition for value hunters.
