13:45 York – Challet

A crazy busy ITV Saturday gets under way here with a handicap over 1m. CHALLET was a real flop at Musselburgh last time but had two really good runs at York recently and it might be this track brings out the best in him. One of those runs came when third behind Il Bandito in a big field and the other behind Shelir. On those two efforts he has great eachway chances.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

14:05 Newmarket – Truely Aclaimed

Newmarket starts here on ITV with a 3yo fillies’ handicap over 7f. Not too many improvers here. Kidwah obviously could be much better than this lot, but I’ll stick with hat-trick-seeking TRUELY ACLAIMED for John Quinn and apprentice Oisin McSweeney. The Aclaim filly was a really good winner at York two runs ago in a big field and went in again at Ayr last time. She’s up another 4lb here and this course and distance is ideal.

14:20 York – Without A Fight

The John Smith’s Silver Cup, a Group 3 over 1m6f. Really disappointing field here and hard to believe John Leeper will get a decent pace to run at. This column got a right result with WITHOUT A FIGHT scoring last time and I see no reason why he won’t score again for Simon and Ed Crisford and Andrea Atzeni. He can lead if need be and should be very hard to beat.

14:40 Newmarket – Positive Impact

A handicap over 1m. POSITIVE IMPACT is improving for the Simon and Ed Crisford-team and should give Jamie Spencer a good spin. The son of Shamardal shook up re-opposing Bay of Honour at Thirsk and then had a walk-over at Brighton to fill him full of confidence for this tougher test.

15:00 Ascot – Equality

A handicap over 5f. This is wide open and hard! EQUALITY just found the five furlongs at Epsom on the sharp side last time but still ran a cracker in defeat in the Dash when a fine third behind Tees Spirit. This more testing five furlongs should be more suitable and my hope remains lightly raced for William Knight so should be able to improve. Kieran Shoemark has the ride.

15:15 Newmarket – Victory Dance

The Group 2 Superlative Stakes for juveniles over 7f. VICTORY DANCE should be hard to beat for Charlie Appleby and William Buick. The son of Dubawi won in great style at Newmarket first time and was clearly expected to do so being sent off the 8-11 favourite. At a cost of 700,000gns he was not a cheap buy and the Newmarket form looks solid enough.

15:35 Ascot – Modern News

Now the Group 2 Summer Mile. MODERN NEWS‘ form seems to have levelled put with two seconds at Epsom and Windsor but he still has every chance here for Charlie Appleby and provides a bog Godolphin ride for Hollie Doyle. Prior to those defeats Modern News won well at Windsor and scored a fine success at Newbury. Off a mark of 111 he has every chance of Group 2 success.

15:50 Newmarket – Montassib

Now the Bunbury Cup Handicap over 7f. MONTASSIB was far from disgraced at Royal Ascot when a staying on fifth in the Buckingham Palace Stakes. The lightly raced four-year-old should still have much more to come for William Haggas and Cieren Fallon and off a makr of 97 has a lovely racing weight of 8st 13lb. We just have to hope stall 6 is a good berth!

16:05 York – Just Fine

The John Smith’s Handicap over an extended 1m2f. JUST FINE didn’t come up to scratch when eighth behind Candleford in the Duke of Edinburgh at Royal Ascot but is interesting here for Sir Michael Stoute and Richard Kingscote. The drop in trip might be significant and my hope ran well at York two runs ago. Has eachway claims at longish odds.

16:25 Newmarket – Creative Force

The big one of the day in the Group 1 July Cup over 6f. CREATIVE FORCE never quite had the pace to get involved in last year’s July Cup, finishing a staying on fifth behind Starman and Dragon Symbol. It will be hard to kick him out the frame at the very least this time around for Charlie Appleby and William Buick. Since that defeat Creative Force has scored in the Qipco British Champions Sprint and a fine second last time to re-opposing Naval Crown in the Platinum Jubilee with Artorius back in third. Has strong claims.

16:40 York – Winter Power

Finally at York the City Walls Stakes, a Listed race over 5f. WINTER POWER should be a good thing here on paper off a mark of 114 but there is a doubt whether the filly can run to that level for Tim Easterby and David Allan. That said, the former Nunthorpe winner really should have the edge especially as she actually gets some weight from a few of her rivals.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
