15:30 – Ocean Cloud

Money for the newcomer Dance Ahead would be significant while both Blatant and Dazzling Gem should have learned from their first starts, but it was hard not to be impressed with the way OCEAN CLOUD went about her business when making a successful debut over C&D last month. She is taken to defy her penalty.

14:20 – Morning Poem

A fascinating contest with all six fillies previous winners, four of them on their only starts. One of that quartet is MORNING POEM who left quite an impression when making a winning debut over C&D in November and this Oaks entry looks very much the one to beat on her return. Ducal Crown is the type to carry on progressing and although the Crisford pair Eshtora and Roshni probably need to improve on the form of their respective winning debuts, that possibility can’t be ruled out.

14:55 – Saga

Maljoom has the advantage of a recent run whilst Bayraq has the track experience, but they face a smart rival in 2,000 Guineas entry SAGA. Runner-up behind smart sorts on his first two starts last year before an Ascot success, he should take all the beating on this return.

15:30 – Stay Well

A competitive renewal of the Rosebery in which the two Sir Michael Stoute-trained 5yos, Boss Power and Hasty Sailor, are much respected with the possibility that both may have even more to offer this year. AW debutant Aaddeey is worth keeping an eye on as his pedigree suggests he should take to the surface at the first time of asking, but it may be worth taking a chance with STAY WELL whose win here last October looks good form now thanks to the subsequent exploits of those behind him. Sky Power would have a chance if putting his latest disappointing effort at Southwell behind him.

16:05 – Potapova

Three of these appear to hold much stronger claims than the others including the unexposed My Astra who seems likely to make her presence felt provided the return to 1m doesn’t catch her out. Roman Mist finished second in another Listed race at Lingfield in November and was only just denied on her reappearance, but preference is for POTAPOVA who hasn’t had as many chances, has shown that she can go well fresh and is 1-1 on the AW.

16:40 – Pensiero D’Amore (NAP)

The unexposed pair Rainbow Fire and Raajil remain open to further progress, while Notre Belle Bete should be suited by the return to the AW (2-2). However, this can go to PENSIERO D’AMORE (nap) who made a successful AW debut over C&D 19 days ago. He only won by a head, but took that race with more in hand than the margin suggests and remains open to further improvement on artificial surfaces.

17:15 – Mohareb

All of these carry doubts of one kind or another. For Fresh, Mitrosonfire and Capote’s Dream, each of them better than ever last season, the lack of a recent run is a concern, although all three may continue on an upward curve over the coming months. It’s hard to argue MOHAREB is particularly well handicapped but he’s fit and well drawn, and David Probert is an interesting jockey booking. Soar Above, beaten a nose here on his most recent outing, may prove the chief threat.
