Flat racing kicks up a gear Tuesday on ITV starting here with a handicap over 6f. BERGERAC should have each-way claims here for Kevin Ryan and Neil Callan. A mark of 89 looks workable after a fine third at Doncaster at the end of March and my hope is lightly raced so should have more to offer. He has a win on varied ground so conditions look ideal.
This is the Listed European Free Handicap over 7f. I’ll take a chance of an upset here with POWER OF BEAUTY for Hugo Palmer and James Doyle. The gelding won well at Yarmouth last season before running an absolute cracker at Salisbury when touched off by Albahr. The effort suggested 8f that day just stretched him but he remained at that distance for a run at Haydock where he was terrible having got upset in the stalls. Clearly he is better than that and this trip might be ideal.

Now the Group 3 Earl of Sefton Stakes over 1m1f. MASTER OF THE SEAS has never gone this far before but he should have the class to see it out even if it’s not his optimum distance. His second in last year’s Guineas to Poetic Flare was a cracking effort and he should make up into a useful four-year-old having missed most of last season. Goes for Charlie Appleby and William Buick.
Finally the big one of the day, the 1000 Guineas trial which is the Group 3 Nell Gwyn over 7f. Not many of these are absolute certain stayers but the one who is ran a cracker in the Breeders’ Cup and that’s CACHET. The Juvenile Fillies’ fourth ran great at Del mar behind Pizza Bianca and was also second to the fabulous Inspiral in the Fillies’ Mile. That should be good enough for the George Boughey runner ridden by William Buick.
So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
