WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
13:15 Newbury – ASO
ASO has kept pretty lofty company and has found life difficult recently. Dropping down to this mark should help things. Just remember, Aso ran in last season’s Cheltenham Gold Cup and he also finished three lengths behind Blacklion at Haydock over this trip. He likes the ground and is racing against his own age group too, which is a massive bonus. He will be tough to beat.
13:32 Kelso – NORTH LODGE
NORTH LODGE is slightly worse off at the weights with Richmond Lake but Alan King’s horse will have come forward from that run at Aintree. He is a young up-and-coming type who can improve rapidly from race-to-race. Richmond Lake supporters though will point to him finishing second to leading Supreme Novice Hurdle fancy, Jonbon. It will be interesting to see if he franks the form.
13:50 Newbury – AMOUR DE NUIT
AMOUR DE NUIT loves a flat track, winning nicely in the end at Musselburgh last time. However, he gave his backers a couple of scares along the way. He ran very well when third in a good handicap in November behind a smart horse of Venetia Williams, Fanion D’estruval. He looks to be be fairly handicapped, but this is an open contest.

14:05 Kelso – WILDE ABOUT OSCAR
Connections have reached for the cheekpieces for this son of Oscar, who has had a wind operation since finishing down the field in the Grade 2 International Hurdle at Cheltenham. WILDE ABOUT OSCAR has some smart form to his name, including beating The Glancing Queen at Exeter and Mint Condition in a valuable handicap at Uttoxeter. Could represent a bit of value in this contest.
14:40 Kelso – ESPOIR DE ROMAY
Lots will fancy Itchy Feet now that he’s got the blinkers on and for good reason. However, running over this trip over fences for the first time with blinkers on, may make him a little too keen and he could use up a lot of energy early on in the race. That’s a concern for me.
ESPOIR DE ROMAY, ran very well at Carlisle over 2m 4f and this looks a really good opportunity for him. He’s unpenalised too and that sways me in his favour.

15:15 Kelso – BUVEUR D’AIR
I would love to see former Champion Hurdle winner BUVEUR D’AIR bounce back to his old form. This is his first run for nearly a year, but he does have some smart form in his back catalogue. Yes, he has to give weight away to a few of these, but this track and ground will suit and I’m hoping his class will shine through.
15:30 Doncaster – Storm Control
The form of his second place to Windsor Avenue over course and distance last time in the Sky Bet Chase got a real boost when Cap Du Nord won for us at Kempton last weekend. STORM CONTROL was unlucky at Doncaster that day and virtually pulled himself up when he hit the front as he looked to have the race in the bag. If he’s ridden with a little more restraint, he can surely get compensation now. Le Milos is on a roll and his price reflects that as he looks to bring up a hat-trick of wins. Mister Malarky is very interesting for a new trainer having had a wind operation. I’m happy to stick with Storm Control.
15:43 Kelso – Hardy du Seuil
HARDY DU SEUIL was a good winner at Carlisle and Hereford. It’s significant perhaps that trainer Jamie Snowden sends him all the way north to Kelso for this good prize and the stable are having a really good season.
