WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

13:15 Newbury – ASO

ITV Saturday gets under way here with a handicap chase for veterans over 3m2f. I’ve never considered ASO a strong stayer at this trip but he does bring some class to the table in a weak turn-out. Representing the in form pair of Venetia Williams and Charlie Deutsch, Aso has run well most of the time this season and was a fair third behind Run to Milan at Exeter last time. He’s been dropped 5lb since then.

13:32 Kelso – North Lodge

ITV are also at Kelso starting here with a Grade 2 novices’ hurdle over 2m2f. NORTH LODGE should be able to give weight and a beating to this lot for Alan King and Adrian Heskin. The son of Presenting won at Aintree in his first effort Under Rules and followed up in good style at Cheltenham. He looks promising and surely has more to offer having never raced on the Flat.

13:50 Newbury – Kalooki

Tough handicap chase here over 2m4f. KALOOKI goes well at this track and is well enough handicapped to make a splash if he can return to form for Philip Hobbs and Tom O’Brien. Rated 143 now, having been 145 for his last two runs over further, he will relish this drop in trip and his form at Newbury reads 1-3-2-7 and when seventh he was sent off the 4-1 favourite.

14:05 Kelso – Get Out The Gate

Here’s a handicap hurdle over 2m5f. GET OUT THE GATE was an expensive flop twice when last seen some time ago for Sandy Thompson but this is winnable with Edward Austin taking off 5lb. My hope stays the trip strong and if fit and ready would have decent claims having been dropped 6lb during an absence since September.

14:20 Doncaster – Get a tonic

ITV are also at Doncaster for this Listed novices’ hurdle over an extended 3m. Quite a decent size field but there is no doubt this should go to GET A TONIC who has a high rating of 134 for Dan Skelton and Bridget Andrews. The mare was a good second at Warwick last time and that followed a fine third at Cheltenham. Very hard to beat here.

14:40 Kelso – Dingo Dollar

Now a Listed chase over nearly 3m. The Scottish National runner-up might outstay the field if on one of his going days. Another Sandy Thomson runner, the DINGO DOLLAR has Ryan Mania up and was last seen running a decent third in the Rehearsal Chase at Newcastle. Off 11st – a lower weight than he usually carries – he must have every chance as I’m not sure Espoir de Romay is worth his rating of 160.

14:55 Doncaster – Bun Doran

Here’s a handicap chase over an extended 2m. An open race. Old boy BUN DORAN has an eachway chance for Tom George and Ciaran Gethings. The 11yo has been consistent this season without winning but has dropped in his last three runs from 137 to 131 and if he’s going to get another victory on the board this might be it.

15:15 Kelso – Metier

The Morebattle Handicap Hurdle over 2m. A tough return for former Champion Hurdle hero Buveur d’Air. METIER is up 7lb for his impressive Lingfield win last time but I suspect he might be able to cope with the rise in the ratings. Harry Fry’s runner is a former Grade 1 winner and has always looked a good prospect. The make-up of this race should suit him.

15:30 Doncaster – Mister Malarky

Hugely competitive handicap chase over 3m2f. A chance for MISTER MALARKY to bounce back to form. He won at Ascot in 2020 off 150 and goes here from a handicap mark of 142. He also runs first time since a wind operation for Richard Bandey and wasn’t disgraced two runs ago. Harry Bannister takes the mount with an eachway chance.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
