Don’t know what a NAPs table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.

14:20 Ascot – Knappers Hill (Racing Post, The Punt)
This unbeaten 5yo has the best bumper form in this field, having won the Listed event on this card last year (soft) then followed up in Aintree Grade 2. KNAPPERS HILL has had a couple of straightforward tasks since switched to hurdles, most recently at Wincanton. Knappers Hill retains major potential in this sphere and warrants respect back up in grade.
14:55 Ascot – Faivoir (Steve Mullington)
FAIVOIR is a progressive sort whose overall record is 10-15. The selection is also a Grade 2 scorer over hurdles. Is 2-3 since switched to chasing, most recently winning a novice handicap over C&D despite jumping left throughout.
16:15 Kempton – Puffing (Daily Telegraph, Marlborough)
PUFFING is a half-sister to winners Mesquite, Vape and Fume. The dam was a 6f-7f winner (including AW 2yo/Group 3) so everything in the breeding bodes well.
19:45 Kempton – Starter For Ten (Morning Star, Farringdon)
STARTER FOR TEN is yet to win for this yard but he recorded two sound efforts over C&D in the autumn (runner-up first occasion, then wide trip when fifth). Was the 5-2 favourite when withdrawn after breaking out of stalls on an intended outing here at the end of November.
