15:45 – Andreas Vesalius

The opening 6f contest is possibly the most uninteresting race on the card as ANDREAS VESALIUS should be long odds on after finishing second in the Group 3 Anglesea Stakes last July at the Curragh. We haven’t seen him since then but he’s taking on some exposed maidens rated in the 80s and should be good enough to win this. Jessica Harrington’s Ecoutez could be the one for the forecast.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

16:15 – Sendmylovetoyou

If the first race looks a no-brainer on paper, this will take a lot more solving as it looks a really competitive handicap. Aido McGuiness’ Skontonovski will enjoy this surface after running on the beach at Laytown as should Meishar, who finished runner-up last time. Rocky Dreams was a recent course winner and has his chance but SENDMYLOVETOYOU has dropped to a mark of 80 and drops down in class. She hasn’t won for a yea but can go close tonight despite an unkind draw in stall 13.

16:45 – Wee Winnie

A trappy two-year-old nursery with a few unknown quantities in it and any market moves for Jessie Harrington’s Slamadoor should be noted. Chaos Control will be popular with punters, but WEE WINNIE finished really well over 7f last week and can go close over the extra furlong on Friday with cheekpieces fitted.

17:15 – Star Image

A wide-open apprentice handicap where Sense of Romance has gone up in the weights after a promising run last time. However, I’ll take a chance on polytrack debutant STAR IMAGE who was a winner last year at the Curagh on turf. She ran well at Punchestown three starts back and takes a big step down in grade now. She can put up a bold show on her first visit to Dundalk.

17:45 – Rebel Tale

We step up to 1m 4f next and REBEL TALE catches my eye. He hasn’t won since 2019 but was thought good enough by connections at one stage to run in the Irish Guineas won by Siskin. He’s far from that level now but has put in decent efforts in his last couple of starts to indicate that he retains some of his old ability. He steps up to 1m 4f for the first time and can get his head in front under 10lb claimer Amy Jo Hayes.

18:15 – Happywifehappylife (NAP)

A maiden where HAPPYWIFEHAPPYLIFE has the stand-out form in the contest. She was second at Gowran Park last time when not getting the clearest of runs but has performed well on this surface before. She looks primed to win. She’s my nap of the night.

18:45 – Graduate of Honour

A 10f handicap where Kartayaz is bound to prove popular after a decent effort here last time when third to Power Drive, while Clatter Bang has also been running well in defeat. However, GRADUATE OF HONOUR is relatively unexposed stayed on really well at Gowran Park last time and should go close under Chris Hayes who retains the ride.

19:15 – Pro Bono

We finish up with another 10f handicap and if we haven’t managed to bag a winner by now, I’m very hopeful that the Patrick Hayes’ trained PRO BONO can get the job done again. He was a good winner here recently and is still really unexposed and travels strongly in his races. He’s open to further improvement and the 6lbs rise in the weights could prove lenient. The top weight Maricruz is talented, but very quirky and the selection looks the safer option.
