Similar types FINVARRA and Thunderoad are the top two on the shortlist, in that order of preference. Third choice is Fact Or Fable, who ties in closely with Thunderoad on Lingfield form. Mungo’s Quest is threatening to win an ordinary race and Almadrina looks a potential improver.

The way she won over C&D two starts back suggested there are more races in Summer Valley, while Junoesque can usually be relied upon to go well at this track. However, ALAMBRISTA has huge potential and is taken to make a successful start to her handicap career.

Preference is for MRS MEADER (nap), who suggested her turn was coming when staying on strongly for third over 1m2f last time out. Anything ridden by Simon Walker or Serena Brotherton is always worth a second look in these contests and their mounts Lady Isabel and Hidden Pearl both have obvious claims.

If CAMACHO MAN is able to reproduce his best recent form on his first start for Tony Carroll then he can finally get off the mark. Favoured Destiny and Lady Monica are next on the list, ahead of Golden Love who is surely better than she’s shown so far.

A recent 6f win shows that PURBECK HILLS can handle this unconventional track, and there is plenty of form over this trip (and further) in his record. He is selected to strike again, with Bbob Alula and Three Card Trick the main dangers in that order.

He was caught in the dying strides at Bath last time out but that was another solid effort from TYGER BAY and the topweight will be hard to beat if reproducing that form in this company. Navajo Dawn and Spreadsheet ran well behind Purbeck Hills here last month so they would have to enter calculations if that one runs well in the 4.30, while Noafence is a potential improver on her handicap debut.
