13:15 Mr Coalville

MR COALVILLE was runner-up over this course and distance last week, but he may well have gone close had his rider not suffered an unfortunate injury in the closing stages. Mr Coalville was beaten four-and-three-quarter lengths, but he was on terms and finding generously for pressure before his rider suffered a dislocated shoulder. That was a promising performance from Mr Coalville and he can gain a measure of compensation here.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

13:45 Keep Right On

KEEP RIGHT ON looked unlucky not to win at Brighton last week, but he can make amends here. Keep Right On was caught in a pocket when the winner kicked for home and, despite finishing strongly, he was unable to get there in time and just failed by a short-head. He can run off the same mark here and could be difficult to stop with better luck in running.

14:20 De Mazzaro

DE MAZZARO made little impact over jumps for Victor Thompson. But, he has joined Tristan Davidson now, a trainer who is adept at rejuvenating recruits. He is of interest based on the form he showed in Ireland for Tom McCourt. De Mazarro won off a 1lbs lower mark at Fairyhouse last year – and wasn’t beaten far off a 3lbs higher mark – so he is one to note in the market for his new yard.

14:55 Captain St Lucifer

CAPTAIN ST LUCIFER did too much too soon when well beaten at Chelmsford last time, but he had previously been in good form, finishing placed on his three others starts in 2021. Captain St Lucifer is the only confirmed pace angle in this field and could be difficult to peg back if getting into a nice rhythm out in front – he has shown enough this season to suggest he can win off this lowly mark.

15:30 Majalaat

MAJALAAT was well backed on his first start for Rebecca Menzies at Haydock earlier this month and he went close to justifying that support, simply unlucky to bump into one who had been rated much higher in his prime. Majalaat pulled a long way clear of the third at Haydock however, so he still looks fairly treated off just a 2lbs higher mark and he could have more to offer for this yard.

16:05 Out Of Sight

OUT OF SIGHT has made an encouraging start since entering handicap company and was runner-up over this course and distance before running to a similar level when third at Carlisle last time. Out Of Sight’s latest effort at Carlisle came over 9 furlongs, but he stuck to his task well on that occasion and should be suited by stepping back up in trip here. He remains relatively unexposed after only five starts, and just two in handicap company, so he could still have more to offer.

16:40 Raqisa

RAQISA had little chance on debut up against Tasman Bay – who went on to finish runner-up in the King Edward VII Stakes – and King Vega – who had been placed at Group level as a juvenile – but she showed something to work on in third.

Raqisa showed her inexperience and was outpaced around the halfway stage, but she ran on late and should be more streetwise now. This slight step up in trip on a track with a stiff finish should suit, and it would be little surprise were she to take a big step forward.

17:15 Fossos

FOSSOS didn’t show a great deal last season, but he was gelded over the winter and has returned as an improved performer, offering encouragement when third at Thirsk and then runner-up at Catterick. He was only beaten by a neck at Catterick, but was four lengths clear of the third. A 2lbs rise in the weights looks fair enough, and he has a more appealing profile than most here.

Beverley tips summary:

13:15 Mr Coalville
13:45 Keep Right On
14:20 De Mazzaro
14:55 Captain St Lucifer
15:30 Majalaat
16:05 Out Of Sight

17:15 Fossos
