Collodi had bounced back to form when runner-up at Doncaster back in February, just worn down by an upwardly mobile sort. He then picked up where he left off when going one better at Southwell recently, in command before the last and running on to win comfortably.
He won from a mark that remained lenient on his best form on that occasion, and though he carries a 7lb penalty for that success, he still had some left in the tank come the winning post.
He also has a fitness edge over the majority of this field, and a repeat of his latest run should be enough to see him go in again here.
El Presente was let down by his jumping when unseating his rider at Wincanton in December, and he was presumably unsuited by racing on very testing ground when pulled up at Huntingdon in March.
But, it probably best to forgive him those two runs and concentrate on his encouraging chase debut at Huntingdon back in November.
He shaped with plenty of encouragement on that occasion, improving on the pick of his hurdling form at a course he has gone well at in the past, keeping on well to finish fourth in a race that has since worked out very well.
He is potentially on a very good mark and is a major player here if he can put it all together.
Jimmy Rabbitte ran too badly to be true when beating home just one rival at Worcester on his final appearance of last season, but he returned to form after 10 months off when a creditable fifth at Uttoxeter earlier this month.
He will need to hurdle better if he is to build on that effort, but he has crucially proven his fitness since the lockdown.
The application of first time cheekpieces may be able to eke out the improvement required for him to regain the winning thread.
