13:00 Cooper’s Cross

Cook The Books will be dangerous if he bounces back to form on his first start since rejoining Dan Skelton but COOPER’S CROSS made a promising start to his hurdling career in late 2020 and, having also performed well in an AW bumper when last in action, he has much less to prove. Fair Flat-racer Pantik kept on well for fourth at Wetherby recently and probably has more to offer over hurdles. Malpas should also feature.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

13:30 Costly Diamond (NAP)

Gary Hanmer’s mare COSTLY DIAMOND (nap) is on a roll and a 5lb rise for her recent Southwell success does not look excessive. She’s very well suited by this C&D and can extend her winning spree. The other C&D winner Valence D’Aumont ran well in defeat at Carlisle in October on his latest outing and can evidently go well when fresh. Relkadam has done well since the cheekpieces were refitted and is next on the list.

14:05 Ambassador

In what looks quite a competitive race the unexposed AMBASSADOR is taken to score for the in-form Skelton team on his handicap debut. Burrows Diamond and Pardon Me are two obvious threats.

14:40 Martila

The hat-trick-seekers Road Warrior and Tico Times make obvious appeal but MARTILA ran a big race in defeat when third off today’s mark at Warwick in November and, if in the same form after her break, she can collect her first win since 2017. Tico Times is second choice. Demi Sang and High Noon have both slipped to tempting marks and are worth monitoring in the betting.

15:10 Snowy Burrows

The most obvious answer is SNOWY BURROWS, who beat a subsequent winner when scoring over 2m4f here on last month’s handicap debut and is still lightly raced. Millie The Minx was a disappointing favourite on her latest outing but she runs this track well and will pose a threat if back on song. Flexi Furlough has shown only minor promise over hurdles but she won a course bumper by 15l last summer and now makes her handicap debut.

15:45 Just A Sip

Kilganer Queen, Midnight Jewel and Tamango all come here after displaying improvement to finish fourth on their latest outings and, of those, the last-named is perhaps the one with greatest potential for further progress. However, JUST A SIP looks well handicapped under the penalty she shoulders for last week’s easy Plumpton win and gets the nod.

16:20 Dundrum Wood

This two-runner race should go to DUNDRUM WOOD who has more than enough ability to win hunter chases for his new stable. Royal Chant won a point ten days ago.

16:57 Martha Willow

Several of these warrant consideration but the suggestion is MARTHA WILLOW, who had the form of her Newcastle third well advertised by the runner-up at Cheltenham last week. Stratford winner Get Sky High is feared most but there are two other winners in the line-up, namely Dillarchie and Blue Sans, while there ought to be improvement from both Glorious Spirit and Lactara.
