Horse Racing tips: Timeform’s magnificent 7 for Catterick on Tuesday

A bite-sized guide to every race from the boffins.

12:20 – GETAWAY JEWEL

Getaway Jewel didn’t offer much in maiden hurdles in Ireland or on his handicap debut for this yard at Market Rasen last month, but he produced a much more promising display when fourth at Sedgefield recently. Getaway Jewel travelled better than most and caught the eye when keeping on into a never-nearer fourth under a hands-and-heels ride (his jockey was suspended for 14 days for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible placing). There could be better to come, particularly with this step up in trip likely to suit, and he looks worth siding with.

12:50 – AFRICAN DANCE

African Dance shaped with promise on his debut over hurdles at Ludlow in October, impressing with how he moved into contention, and he built on that encouraging introduction when readily winning at Sedgefield last month. African Dance looked well suited by the step up in trip at Sedgefield and, open to more improvement after only two starts in this sphere, he should prove difficult to beat.

13:20 – ROSES POSES

Roses Poses has been running creditably since returning from a long absence at Southwell in July, finishing in the frame on all three starts. Roses Poses had the run of the race when second in a novices’ handicap hurdle at Southwell last month but it was still her best effort of the season and she looks interesting on her chase debut. She finished runner-up on her only start in points and represents Dan Skelton, whose chasing recruits often jump well.

13:55 – YULONG MAGICREEF

Yulong Magicreef showed fair form on the Flat when trained by Jessica Harrington and offered some encouragement when third over hurdles at Market Rasen this month. That is arguably the best piece of form on offer in this juvenile hurdle and Yulong Magicreef, who represents the in-form Jonjo O’Neill, should give another good account. Indigo Lake was quirky but talented on the Flat and is among the main dangers on his debut over hurdles.

14:25 – AIRGEAD SUAS

Airgead Suas is a mare on the up and can complete the hat-trick. She showed improved form to get off the mark at Exeter last month and then took another step forward when registering a hard-fought win over this course and distance, relishing the step up in trip.

She has a 7 lb higher mark to contend with but is still relatively unexposed over staying trips and rider Cillin Leonard is excellent value for his 7 lb allowance.

14:55 – OUT ON THE TEAR

Out On The Tear was largely progressive over hurdles last season, winning twice and finishing in the frame on another three occasions, and he made a promising start over fences when runner-up at Chepstow last month. Out On The Tear had no answer to the very impressive winner, but he stuck to his task well to grab second and he makes obvious appeal off the same mark.

15:25 – GREGOR

Gregor looked unlucky not to make a winning start when a close-up fourth over course and distance last month as he was denied a clear run on a couple of occasions inside the closing stages and finished with running left. That was a promising debut and, with improvement coming, he can gain a measure of compensation now.
