Another Saturday, another €/£10k weekly winner as Owen from Dublin became the fourth qualifier for Paddy Power’s Millionaire Chase on New Year’s Day.
Own backed the Paul Nicholls-trained Politologue (11/8f) to win the 2.25pm at Sandown and was then picked out as the €/£10k weekly prize winner in Monday night’s draw on Paddy Power’s Facebook and Twitter channels.
Congrats to Owen in Dublin who wins 10K and a shot at a million quid on New Year's Day!
Be sure to opt-in next week to be in with a shot of winning a million quid. Opt-in will be available onsite/app from Thursday afternoon!
Paddy broke the good news to Owen earlier today who it seems just didn’t rely on pot luck for his picks.
PP: You work in racing don’t you Owen?
Yeah, I’m a farrier for a few different trainers, including Dermot McLaughlin, and I own a leg in a couple of horses myself.
PP: Are you racing much at the moment?
No, a lot would be done in the yard, but funnily enough I always go to Cheltenham for that New Year’s Day meeting and was actually a bit sad to be missing it this year because of the pandemic. I guess I’ll have a million more reasons to watch it now though!
I usually travel over with my Dad so he’ll come over to the house to watch the action on New Year’s Day and we’ll have fingers, toes and everything else crossed.
PP: Is this your biggest win?
Well I don’t normally watch a race where I’ve £1 million at stake, but about about five years ago my dad was waiting on the last leg of a Super Yankee (a multiple consisting of 26 bets) that would have taken about €60k off Paddy Power. The last leg of the bet got beaten a nose – so I owe you a beating this time!
PP: You’re guaranteed £10k minimum but what will you if you land the £1m jackpot.
I’ll go on lots of holidays Paddy that’s for sure ….. and Cheltenham and Aintree will be among them!
The competition continues this Saturday, December 12, at Cheltenham 3pm with the International Hurdle and is open to existing Paddy Power customers and newcomers. All you have to do is OPT IN each Thursday (this is important) to enter the competition, then back the winner of the Saturday qualifier to go into into our weekly €/£10k draw and the chance to win £1m on New Year’s Day at Cheltenham.
Be sure to OPT IN each week – even if you are a Paddy Power Customer and have opted in before. Then you need to place a winning bet on any of the remaining 3 qualifying races(see below) through the Paddy Power app or Paddy Power website from this weekend through to December 19.
