13:15 Cheltenham – Nikap (each-way)
The ITV coverage gets under way with a mares’ handicap chase over an extended 2m4f. A wide open affair. NIKAP has to have an each-way chance for Nigel Hawke and Kieren Buckley who takes off a crucial 7lb. The selection was beaten by Arian last time but is better off at the weights and with the jockey claim has place chances at the very least. And Paddy is paying out on the FIRST and SECOND as a winner! up to a £/€10 stake.
13:50 Cheltenham – Kalashnikov
Now the rescheduled Peterborough Chase which is a Grade 2 over 2m4f. Not easy to sort out. I’m happy to give KALASHNIKOV another chance on his second run after a wind operation. He remains Amy Murphy’s stable star and Jack Quinlan keeps the mount. This is his perfect course and distance and he was second in the Supreme here back in the day. His run first time over hurdles at Haydock should have put him spot on.
14:05 Bangor – Robin Gold
A handicap hurdle here over 2m7f. This should be simple for ROBIN GOLD. Trained by Dan Skelton and ridden by his inform brother Harry, Robin Gold has won three out of her last four starts and stayed on really well over about this trip at Ascot when last seen. Will be hard to stop in such a small field.
14:25 Cheltenham – West Approach
Handicap chase company now over 3m2f. I’m not a fan of WEST APPROACH but this race gives him every chance of hitting the frame again for Colin Tizzard and Harry Cobden. I like the make up of this race for my selection and you know what you will get – Cobden will sit out the back and try and cruise through late. Hopefully by then everything else is exhausted!

15:00 Cheltenham – Out Sam
Another Cross Country Chase here and it’s over 3m6f. OUT SAM has long promised to win a decent prize and he might go well for Gordon Elliott and Sean Bowen. I thought his fifth in the Paddy Power Cork Grand National – a superbly sponsored event – was a fine effort and the trip should be no issue over these fences. If his jumping holds up he would have a chance.
15:35 Cheltenham – Agrapart
Finally at Cheltenham a handicap hurdle over 3m. I’m going to have a few quid eachway at a big price on AGRAPART for Nick Williams and Chester Williams who takes off 5lb. My hope has been running in France recently, but is 5lb lower than when last in the UK and has plenty of decent form over this trip. At the age of nine it’s possible his best days are behind him. But it’s not as if he is ancient.
So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
