Horse Racing tips: Frank Hickey’s Thursday four to score across the tracks

Taunton 13.10 – Boothill

This looks like a useful novice hurdle and Boothill will have to run to a decent level here to make it two from two under rules, but he is an exciting prospect. He cost £125,000 at the Cheltenham Sales after finishing second in both his starts in points but created a big impression when winning impressively on his humper debut at Kempton in February. That looks strong form, as the second, third & fifth have all won over hurdles since. It wouldn’t surprise me if Boothill is up to winning this en route to the spring festivals next year.

Warwick 13.57 – Bardd

This is a competitive handicap chase and Bardd is anything but a serial winner, but he is definitely handicapped to run well now. He ran reasonably well on his last two starts when third at Ludlow and fifth off a mark of 105 and only last January he was beaten a neck here over hurdles off a mark of 102. He tends to run well at Warwick and now running off a mark of 103, he can outrun his odds if his jumping holds up.

Tramore 14.05 – Nell’s Well

Nell’s Well was a point winner in January 2019 and she has shown glimpses of ability in her three quick runs over hurdles, so much so that an opening mark of 97 looks quite attractive. She was third  at Cork on her hurdles debut over 2m 4f where she shaped really nicely.

She then followed that with a fourth place at Fairyhouse over the same trip where she again shaped nicely. She then went a little too hard on the front end when fourth at Thurles when dropped to two  miles but that was her third run in less than four weeks. She is now out again just two weeks later.

Stepping back up in trip on a sharp track like Tramore should suit.

Tramore – 14.40 – Moscowsowhat

Moscowsowhat is first reserve in this contest – so isn’t sure to get a run, but is interesting if he does.  Beaten a head in a maiden hurdle at Limerick this time last year, he has been a little disappointing in three starts in handicap hurdles since. He seemed to really appreciate the switch to fences last time at Cork, with Conor Orr not being too hard on him but he jumped fine and stayed on nicely to finish fifth, showing a bit of promise.

The winner, Notice To Close, won a nice handicap at Clonmel last week off a mark of 120 to give the form a solid look to it. Moscowsowhat was second in his first point to point, behind the very useful Walk Away, so chasing could really see him fulfil his potential. If he can build on that chase debut, he could surprise for James Dullea who operates at a very healthy 18 per cent strike rate with his runners at Tramore.
