Real Madrid v Celta Vigo
Saturday, April 22
TV: ITV 4, 8pm

Real Madrid host Celta Vigo on Saturday night in La Liga and the gold folks at ITV 4 are showing in on the box. The hosts are fresh from their routine dismissal of Chelsea in the Champions League and have won five of their last six games in all competitions to nil. Celta, meanwhile, are enjoying a run of five away La Liga games undefeated so have little to fear. Let’s find some value bets.

Over 3.5 Goals

Real have noticeably gone up the gears of late, smashing in 18 goals over their last six games while conceding in just one of those six fixtures. Their home league form has seen them winning four of their last six, drawing one and losing one, scoring 16 and conceding five.

Los Celestes have won two, drawn two and lost one over their last five games, while on their La Liga jaunts have won two and drawn three, scoring 10 and conceding seven. With both teams scoring for fun of late we reckon we’re going to see at least four here and the price for Over 3.5 goals represents some great value.

Both Teams to Score

While Real are on an impressive run of clean sheets of late, they’ve conceded in six of their last 10 at home in La Liga and Celta have scored 10 on the road of late and 10 over their last five as well. Decent odds here particularly as both teams are in such strong goal-scoring form.

Karim Benzema to Score Anytime

14 La Liga goals in 19 appearances, six domestic cup goals and four Champions League goals as well. He’s just incredible. He also has a thing for Celta Vigo, in facing them 19 times he’s scored a total of 12 goals and, if you needed more ammunition, he has five goals over his last five La Liga games at the Bernabeu.

Vinicius Jr to Score or Assist

Vinicius Jr has nine goals and six La Liga assists to his name this season in La Liga and is very much relishing in his role as understudy to Benzema. The only question regarding him now is, will Real Madrid deploy him as Benzema’s replacement when he hangs up his boots or will they look further afield. He averages around 1.2 shots on target per game too and has scored twice against Celta over recent seasons. His partnership with Benzema continues to flourish and against a team who rarely keep any clean sheets we think he’ll either score or create here.

Iago Aspas to have 2 or More Shots on Target

Iago Aspas’ 12 goals for Celta Vigo have been crucial to them staying well above the relegation zone this season. The former Liverpool forward averages 2.3 shots per game. It’s not always relentless attacks with facing Real, they don’t mind other teams having possession as they’ll always be confident of outscoring their opponents. The visitors will have their chances here and we can see Aspas testing Thibaut Courtois between the Real sticks at least a couple of times.

Over 3.5 Cards

Interestingly, both sides occupy two of the bottom three places in the La Liga Fair Play table. However, these games have been quite fiery over recent seasons with seven of their last nine meetings at both grounds seeing four cards produced at a minimum. Celta aren’t afraid of taking players to ground and the way Real play we can certainly see four cards being shown here.
