Denmark can still qualify from Group B despite having zero points from two games and for obvious reasons you’d absolutely love to see them do it. They’re actually still around odds-on to qualify and get out of the group, given the permutations in it.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
If their price to beat Russia holds then they’re about 10/11 to qualify and we had to ring up Stephen Hawking to get help to work out the permutations in this group! There’s going to be serious drama watching these two games taking place at the same time.
8pm: Finland v Belgium
What I’d give you for this game is… Belgium still need a point to be secure in topping the group. We have seen the match prices move as a result, but I would expect Roberto Martinez to make some changes. They have a strong squad but I expect Romelu Lukaku to start.
He’s chasing the Golden Boot so have a look at Romelu Lukaku to Score First. Don’t back him anytime as I don’t think we’re going to see him play the full 90 minutes.
8pm: Russia v Denmark
In the other game, Russia v Denmark, if Denmark win by any score line other than 1-0 and Finland lose to Belgium, which we would expect to happen, that would see Denmark go through. That’s why we’re saying they’re still odds-on to qualify from the group and we’d love to see it happen.
I’m really not impressed by Russia. I thought they were awful against Belgium. They got the win against Finland but they are not great themselves. I would say Denmark (-1) on the handicap. Have a look at that.
But, enjoy it. This is why we love international football. This is what we wait for, the final round of group games. There’s going to be serious drama whatever way it goes in these matches.
