Costa Rica, Canada, USA and Jamaica were all expected to make it to the quarter finals of the Gold Cup and here we are with all four safely in the draw. Helpfully, all four played each other in the final round of group games, with the North American pair facing off and Los Ticos getting the better of the Reggae Boyz. But which way are Sunday night’s games going to go?
12am: Costa Rica v Canada – Costa Rica to Win and BTTS
Costa Rica were in dreadful form heading into the Gold Cup, but they’ve won all three games when it’s mattered, topping Group B to set up this clash with Canada. The Canadians have done okay, winning both Group B games they were expected to win in emphatic fashion before narrowly losing to the USMNT last time out.
This is a finely-poised game but Costa Rica are too short for me. They’re ranked 20 places higher than the Canadians and I’m backing them to come out on top in this one.

Other than their final group games, Both Teams have scored in both sides’ previous two matches. Costa Rica conceded to the combined might of Guadeloupe and Surinam while Canada shipped one apiece to Martinique and Haiti.
Both only saw one goal in in their games against the better teams but they’ve kept just one clean sheet between them in six Gold Cup matches. I think Los Ticas will have enough to get the job done in what should be an exciting game with Costa Rica to Win and Both Teams To Score.
2.30am: USA v Jamaica – USA to Win and Under 2.5 Goals
USA topped Group B courtesy of a 1-0 win over Canada in their last outing while Jamaica were pipped by Costa Rica following an identical result in their final Group C game. This is a clash of CONCACAF’s second and third ranked teams, with the USMNT boasting a 25-place superiority over the Reggae Boyz.
USA are big favourites, even though they’re missing a number of their star plyers. Jamaica do have theirs in the electric shape of Leon Bailey. While the first game on Sunday night might be quite entertaining, I think this is going to be a rather attritional affair.
Monday 2.30am: USA v Jamaica
Premier Sports 1
The States have been grinding it out, winning two of their games 1-0, with the 6-1 demolition of Martinique being the exception. Jamaica have seen an average of just two goals a game so far and we’re backing a tight contest here.
Given the general lack of goals on offer from both so far, I think the price on USA to Win with Under 2.5 Goals within the 90 is a great bet. Both of these punts are more than big enough to back as singles but combine for a nice-priced double.
Sunday’s Gold Cup tips
12am: Costa Rica v Canada – Costa Rica to Win and BTTS
2.30am: USA v Jamaica – USA Win and Under 2.5 Goals
These two selections in a double will give you odds of around 19/1 with Paddy Power.
