Newcastle United assistant boss Jason Tindall has sent a Facebook friend request to Jose Mourinho as the Portuguese continues to be linked with the St James’ Park hotseat.
Mourinho was relieved of his duties as manager by Italian side Roma after a disappointing start to their Serie A campaign but is still widely regarded as one of the top coaches in the game, particularly by Mourinho himself.
With the two-time Champions League winner now available and current Newcastle boss Eddie Howe under mounting pressure, many are linking the 60-year-old ex-Chelsea boss with a Premier League return.
And seizing an opportunity to keep himself in the limelight should Newcastle decide to replace Howe with Mourinho, Toon No.2 Tindall reached out to the former Porto boss via social media to offer his services.
‘I’d love to work with the Special One’, said Mourinho when asked about the development.
‘As soon as I saw Jason’s friend request come through, I accepted it right away’.
‘If I get the Newcastle job, my first act will be to make Jason my No.2. My second act will be to rename the St James’ technical area ‘The Jason Tindall Zone’.
‘Every time I see Jason muscling his way into shot when he knows the TV cameras are on Eddie, I think to myself, this is football heritage’.
Heaping praise on Tindall’s organisational skills, Mourinho remarked:
‘Every player knows his position. Their shape is fantastic. Jason is one of the best in the business at organising at post-match team photo in the changing room’.
Tindall refused to answer questions about his future when he was spotted leaving a local solarium this morning but the 46-year-old set tongues wagging amongst Newcastle supporters when he updated his relationship status with Howe to ‘it’s complicated’.

Howe in turn deleted all photos of himself and Tindall together from his Facebook account which, incidentally, was every single photo he ever posted.
‘Going off this thing for all while’, posted Howe, along with several hissing snake emojis.
‘Just gonna look after me and the kids from now on’, he added.
