Klopp drops Fabinho off at airport after £40m Saudi bid

£40million! When's the next flight to Riyadh?

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp personally drove Fabinho to the airport after Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad lodged a £40m bid for the midfielder.

The German’s car screeched into Liverpool John Lennon Airport this morning before dumping Fabinho and his luggage outside the passenger terminal.

Anfield bosses initially dismissed the £40m offer for the Brazilian as some kind of practical joke but realised the figures quoted might be true when they heard that Jordan Henderson could command a wage of £700k-per-week in Saudi Arabia.

‘Everyone at the club is devastated by Fabinho’s decision to leave’, an emotional Klopp told Paddy Power News while wiping his tears with a fistful of crisp £100 notes.

‘One minute he’s a Liverpool player, the next I’m dragging him out of bed by the feet and bundling him into my car to go to the airport. But that’s football for you’.

‘Some people will say the offer was too good to turn down but it was never about the money’, said the 56-year-old while trying on a gold-plated cashmere suit.

Fabinho is also reportedly keen on the move citing his desire for a fresh challenge, the chance to experience a different culture and the opportunity to earn a sh*t load of cash as the major motivating factors.

‘Ever since I was a boy kicking a ball about the streets of Campinas, it has always been my dream to play for Al whatever they’re called’, said the 29-year-old while holding an Al Ittihad jersey back-to-front and upside-down at a press conference.

‘I will prove to the King Abdullah Sports City faithful that I’m not just here because of a big salary’.

‘It’s tax free too’.

Meanwhile, it’s been revealed that Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has turned down several lucrative offers to join the Saudi Pro League.

Sources claim the Portuguese was reluctant to move because playacting, incessant whining and pushing referees are punishable by beheading in Saudi Arabia.
