Klopp refuses to hand over “we pushed City all the way” trophy to Arsenal

Top 4 trophy? Forget it. Top 2 trophy? That's worth celebrating

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is believed to have been left stunned by the behaviour of Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp who has outright refused to hand over the “we pushed City all the way” trophy, according to reports.

Paddy Power News understands an unhappy Arteta has been forced to postpone the open top bus parade in which his side were due to celebrate their incredible quadruple winning season consisting of the ‘we pushed City all the way’ trophy, the ‘proud of our achievements as nobody expected it’ shield, a ‘done really well considering we are the youngest side in the league’ cup, and of course the much coveted, ‘second place is better than winning the Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Europa League’ plaque.

“Apparently Klopp is adamant his side will retain the trophy in 2024 so has decided to hide it in a place only he and Jordan Henderson know of,” confirmed a source from the Emirates.

“With Liverpool finding some fantastic end of season form, I can sympathise with Jürgen in that Liverpool have been rightful owners of that accolade for several years,” they continued.

“You can understand the euphoric heights of being recognised as City’s closest challengers, the buzz of being not quite good enough to actually win, but he needs to respect what Mikel has achieved this season.”

And others associated with the North London club are keen to have their achievements recognised.

“Arsenal are basically champions if you don’t think about City. Imagine just for a second the league finished in March, Arsenal are champions, aren’t they?

“Take away City’s millions of pounds. Arsenal are champions. Their brilliant manager, Arsenal champions. All the goals they scored. Arsenal champions,” Twitter user @2HlebAndBack stated following Arsenal 3-0 loss to Brighton at the weekend.

“It’s something everyone at the club can be proud of and why we want Liverpool to send us our trophy. We are rightful owners and our fans will be singing about it for years to come. The club should release another retro kit to celebrate, it’s that big.”

While Arsenal boss Arteta may be unhappy with Klopp, there was some silverware to celebrate at Emirates earlier this week after he won an award at the BAFTAs.

The young Spanish manager was recognised for his role in convincing Arsenal supporters there was a title race to begin with.

“Mikel was sensational with all his arm throwing and leaving his technical area every single week,” one critic noted.

“He put on a wonderful performance that had the entire Arsenal fan base believing there was actually a chance of them winning the league. A great actor creating a wonderful illusion” fellow BAFTA winner Kate Winslet concurred.

Elsewhere in Arsenal news, the club is under investigation after a 30ft dinosaur spine was confirmed as stolen from the Natural History Museum.

Sources from within the Metropolitan Police have suggested Arteta and his players would be the biggest benefactors from obtaining a spine, and investigations are ongoing.
