A tight game is expected here between Brendan Dolan and Callan Rydz who both will think they can make a big impact on his tournament. I think Dolan’s extra experience on the big stage could be the key factor that edges it for him after a tight battle. The price on Dolan to win 3-2 in 5 sets looks a good one in a game that seems destined to go all the way.
Danny Noppert has shown good development this year on the tour and he can get his tournament off to a comfortable start with a 3-0 whitewash of Jason Heaver. Noppert has an extremely consistent game and will dominate this match unless Heaver can improve massively on his display against Gordon Mathers in the 1st round. The price on offer for Noppert to win 3-0 looks too big.
Young Welshman Lewis Williams got his tournament off to a comfortable start with an easy 3-0 win in the 1st round. He will get a tougher test here from the German no.1 Gabrial Clemens but I believe it’s an appealing price for him to prevail. Clemens has not had his best year on tour and has struggled recently. I think the Welshman comes into this game in a better frame of mind and can take advantage of this so Williams To Win and setup a Welsh derby with Jonny Clayton in Round 3.
The penultimate game of the 2nd round looks like it could be the tie of the round. Two former World champions face off in the shape of Rob Cross v Raymond van Barneveld and both have shown recently that they could be rediscovering that form. Barney was very impressive in a comfortable 3-0 win in the 1st round while Cross has been very consistent since winning the European Championship recently. The price on both to throw 4 or more 180s looks tempting in what will likely be a high quality game that could go all the way to 5 sets.
