WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS
Friday 8pm: Wales v France
There’s been some Friday night crackers in Cardiff over the years and there’s plenty on the line in this one. France are of course going for the Grand Slam, but the defending champions Wales will want to get one over them here and prove they are better than recent results suggest.
One thing that may count against them is rumours of there being plenty of tickets left so it might not be the cauldron of noise you’d usually get – the hosts could really need that 16th person against a formidable France side who look to be too powerful.
Half Time/ Full Time: France/ France
What I can see happening based on the previous three rounds is the men in red finding it hard to break down France’s defence which has been very disciplined under former Wales coach Shaun Edwards.
They have struggled to put points on the board early on – failing to score in the first-half against both Ireland or England. I expect France to keep it tight then go on to win by a couple of scores.
With that in mind, I’d back France to win both halves.

First try scorer: Antoine Dupont
There’s a couple I like for a try scorer bet. Antoine Dupont was outstanding in Cardiff for Toulouse in the Champions Cup back in December – scoring one and setting up another – and he’s got three tries in his last two against Wales so clearly likes playing against them!
At a good price, Antoine Dupont to the score the first try in the match is my fancy.
To score anytime: Taulupe Faletau
For an anytime bet, Taulupe Faletau has been outstanding for Bath since returning from injury. While I think Wales will struggle, if anyone is going to get a try it’s more likely to come from the back row than any of the backs, because they really haven’t look very fluent so far.
